Because there's a shit ton of stuff you can do after that and the whole world is open to you.

You can:
Go to the Forest Temple
Go to Death Mountain and do the Fire Temple
Do the Ice Cavern and even some of the Water Temple
Get Epona
Do Gerudo's Fortress
Do the Biggoron sidequest
Get the Scarecrow song and do the fishing mini games

There's so much freedom at this point >_> I feel like Zelda games like Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess are missing this. They feel so railroaded all the time

OoT is so great.

On my last playthrough as soon as I got to the adult section I got epona, the hookshot and then biggoron's sword (with ice cavern along the way since you need it). Then I just rocked the rest of the game with biggoron's and no shield since it looks badass as fuck.

Wind Waker had a ton of stuff you can do after the Forest dungeon.

You really take the longshot and it's length for granted once you replay and get the regular hookshot...

You can do all of this, as well as learn the Minuet of the Forest, learn the song of storm, and get the Goron Tunic from Link all BEFORE getting the hookshot too.

Until BotW came out, OoT was the least linear 3D Zelda. Even Majora's Mask had a significantly more linear story (though there were a ton of sidequests to partially make up for this).

Nah, I'm pretty sure you need the hookshot to deal with the wall on Death Mountain summit for the biggoron quest. I don't think you can get past the spiders otherwise >_>

You just climb past them. They only charge at you if you are moving and they're looking at you, so if one turns purple and gets ready to charge, you just stop moving and wait for it to rotate away from you.

its annoying to get around them, but I always get the biggorons sword before I do anything else as an adult.

I do wish TP had more of that sequence breaking though. As much as I love it, its extremely linear.
