No, even on Sega genesis, their cartridges had that unnecessary yellow tab on the side that pushed their inevitable path to supreme power.

EA has brief periods of being better. Generally after they suffer a huge controversy.

But eventually they manage to be bad in a new way.

But I don't recall a generation where they didn't do at least one major shitty thing. They've always bought out great studios and closed them down after a few years for example.

For me, the shutdown of Westwood was kind of the point at which they went downhill. They had some moments where they turned it around a bit after that, but it would be short lived. 2008 had Burnout Paradise, Dead Space, and Mirror's Edge, for instance...

I remember EA being the company that used to pump out shitty licensed games. Jurassic Park Lost World, Small Soldiers, Marvel Rise of the Imperfects etc. back in the 90's.

I'm not sure if they even released any good games on the PS1/N64 that wasn't sports.

Haha, ya!! Not sure what those were about.
But Electronic Arts did put out some good stuff in the 80's for the Commodore 64.

Actually, that's an I treating story.
Sega wanted harder licensing restrictions with the Genesis and EA wanted more freedom. So Sega didn't send them a debit. EA borrowed one and reverse engineered it, so they could release unlicensed games. Sega didn't want them to share that knowledge with other developers, so they gave them a pretty good licensing deal, which included the rights to make their own cartridges.

Oh that is interesting. Probably explains some of the bad blood between EA and Sega during the Dreamcast years.

EA doesnt give two shits of every single one of their customers complain, as long as theyre raking in the money.

But yes, it was a pretty cool game, as I remember it.

I heard it was the other way round.

Their stocks took a nosedive because they decided to back down because backing down means less profit.

Doing what a good business should do i.e. whatever it takes to make a profit is not evil, it's just common sense.

Only naive babies think otherwise.

Companies can still make a profit without harming their consumers in the process though.

.....man that's one of the dumbest things I ever heard.

No one would choose no money over some money. No one. Fuck outta here.

You don't get it. If EA was okay with some of the money, they wouldn't have jumped full hog into the lootbox system in battlefront 2, but would've stuck with the visual customisation system that WAS ALREADY IN THE GAME, but was locked away. Instead, they needed to make more money, which inspired them to go full hog into the bullshit they did.

Now you get the fuck out if that's the way you're going to behave. This is a serious discussion, people with that sort of mindset need not apply.

I guess. Not sure where the whole "woe is me" bullshit came from, as I don't care about what EA has done. I haven't supported any of their products for years, this whole scenario just proved that I was right to do so.

Edit: by this point he's projecting so hard we can point him at a wall and show a PowerPoint presentation.

No, because they said they will continue to do so in their other games right after. And even if they backed down on BF2, they're still thinking of ways to shake you down for all your money. There was a post on reddit with someone who does media for these companies and they said that EA is doing a basic tactic of making it look like they're doing something good and that's what the headlines will be to make everyone forget but they're out in the back doing another equally shady thing.
