We are teachers. Parents can rate the teachers /5. Do good, get 5 stars, right?

Actually, not always. Sometimes the parents dont understand the ratings. Hard to believe, but it happens to some of the teachers. Some parents are angry with our bosses, so they rate the teacher poorly. Sometimes kids get a hold of the ratings and troll the teacher, which is the worst.

Stars add up to ratio. I am currently sitting at 4.6/5, which is good, I guess. Out of 120 something ratings, I only have 4-5 4 stars, which were mostly understandable reviews, like one day where I was just way too tired and it showed. Those are consturctive and fair. Then I one 3-star where the parent complained that the kid couldnt learn anything. This one has a history of lying about placement levels for the student. Kids get tested into a level, but sometimes a Tiger Mom (crazy strict Asian Parent [kids are all Chinese] does the test for the kid so thye look smart). Turns out the kid doesnt know the material, and bam, looks stupid, feels bad, parent is angry their kid isnt special. Bad review for teacher, even thought hey followed protocall.

Sometimes reviews can be recalled if it was obviously unfair. The review still stays up though, for all to see.

This system really sucks and makes me feel worthless. I only have like, 5 reviews that are less than 5 stars, and it really makes me feel like crap because I actually really care about all my students.

These types of things are more problematic than they are beneficial. Also, parents usually have some shit reasons for disliking a teacher. When I was in high school, some mom wrote a bad review for one of our history teachers because she was too attractive. I shit you not.

Sounds like a terrible system for any kind of company, but even worse for teachers.

Like what, you fail a kid and the teacher gives you a 1-star rating, and that's how your performance as a teacher is assessed? Come on.

Very possible, so most teachers give the kids full scores in fear of bad ratings.

It seems like a decent idea if they are just making sure bad ratings aren't a trend and following up on why you might have gotten a bad rating. I could see it being a problem if they don't understand ignorant parents.
