He didn't actually do much, and always seems to fall back on not being Bush, being elected when they finally got Bin Laden (or at least, that's what his fans do) and pushing through a shitty healthcare bill.

Well, he was President during the slow 8 year decay of all that happening.

I think it's more like a 20 year decay but it does seem to have intensified since social media came around.

Though I don't know if Obama was really the cause or if he just happened to be there when it started picking up.

He's a top 10 president imo but I still had major issues with him.

-He continued Bush's bombing campaign and drone strikes.
-The expansion of the Five Eyes program.
-Tried to compromise with congressional republicans even though they were the most obstructionist group in history.
-Contrary to what conservatives think. He DIDN'T address race issues enough.

I voted for him twice. He kept talking about change and change, but nothing really changed at all. Obamacare is a mess (it actually impacted me because my mom's coverage is a disaster now and she has medical problems she can't get treated for anymore), and he didn't really do anything memorable outside of that.

He was more about going on late night talk shows than anything. And, as a black man, he didn't really do too much for black people at all.

- Record level of deportations
- Increased use of drone strikes and the lack of transparency surrounding them
- Passiveness in the face of intransigent opposition
- Utter failure to prosecute the fraud and massive crimes committed by Wall Street during the financial bubble and crisis.
- Moves that exacerbated the ensuing foreclosure crisis
- Aiding and abetting Saudi Arabia's war crimes in Yemen
- Harsh crackdown on whistleblowers
- Cabinet full of shitheels
- Failure to follow through on promises like closing Gitmo and enacting Card Check

And just an FYI, I supported Obama in the '08 election. I didn't mind 'seeing him everyday' until it started becoming clear what he really was. Even so, he did some good things and has some good in him. The guy clearly wanted to be a 'good President' especially for optics, and he did a few things that were universally good for people. But he's also majorly complicit in a lot of bad things as well. And I'm glad we didn't get the "third Obama term" with HIllary Clinton.

Well people in my social circle didn't think he was left wing enough. He was kinda neoliberal on issues like trade and was conservative on national security.

It's just he hyped himself up to be the CHANGE candidate and then turned out to just be another moderate democrat.

Still one of the best presidents we've ever had but he isn't the messiah or anything.

I generally liked him, and in fact voted for him twice, but as a constitutional lawyer he should have known better than to use executive action like he did to bypass congress. Although I support many of his policies, the ways in which he went about making some of them happen kind of screwed up the balance of power pretty badly between the branches in a way that will likely never be restored.
