JJ meticulously built the foundation for a new trilogy and Rian just mercilessly binned entire characters and plot threads. Rian is like the friend from elementary school who came over to JJ's house and smashed all his Star Wars toys together, and now JJ's gotta clean it up.
The Last Jedi is surprising and thrilling, but I'm a little concerned that there's no real plan in place for a three-movie arc and they're flying by the seat of their pants. --- BKSheikah owned me so thoroughly in the 2017 guru contest, I'd swear he used the Lens of Truth to pick his bracket. TFA sucks and TLJ is good I don't really like TFA but it is much better than what I just saw in the theater. TLJ was a huge disappointment to me. At least TFA was fun, if dumb. This was just boring most of the way through and didn't really have a payoff. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

I just got back from this movie. Glad I'm not the only one feeling really weird about it.
I feel like something was missing. There was indeed no real payoff. And no lightsaber battle either, which is SW to me and why I didn't really like RO. In fact, this movie felt like a RO-esque side adventure. Gonna need to watch it a few times to see if things change. Actually the whole gambling planet bit felt like a fucking episode of Doctor Who.
