Better than SM with the QoL improvements it made, and also does the unprecedented by adding completely new Pokemon midgen.

However, it still didn't realize the full potential that I feel that it had (but that's typical of Game Freak these days, unfortunately).

No, it was a cheap cash in. In typical Nintendo fashion, they basically released the same game again but added sunglasses to the two pokemon on the cover of the game and released it for full price.

And in typical Nintendo FAN fashion, the game was an all time best seller and received critical acclaim. And you wonder why they don't even bother trying.
