If you haven't seen it, go see it. It's Guillermo Del Toro at his best with a really beautiful, fucked up story and amazing acting. Sally Hawkins and Richard Jenkins are phenomenal.

Right now the only place I can find for it is King of Prussia which is over an hour away (still tempting though)

Hoping it comes to wider release soon

I chose to see Three Billboards instead of this

Literally the worst decision any human has ever made

Whelp, I just watched two trailers for Shape of Water that pretty much show the majority of major plot developments including a big end of movie thing. Thank god I didn't watch those before the movie.

I thought Three Billboards looked good! I was thinking of seeing it but I'll stay away.

I can see some people enjoying Three Billboards, but it happened to contain every cinematic element/trope that I fucking despise

Limited Release. There was a preview for it before Disaster Artist that said it has been out for two weeks. We couldn't find a single showing around Pittsburgh, but there's one in Cleveland. So since we'll be going up there for Christmas, we'll be able to catch it!

I didn't realize you guys had difficulty finding showings for off-beat movies. There's a theater walking distance from me that shows exclusively weird movies like this.

Aren't you in LA? NY and LA are the only two places where you can immediately see any movie that is released in the US. The other areas usually have to wait.

It's true, I live in Santa Monica. I can find any movie showing in no time at all. Though I'd have assumed any big city could do the same, not just LA and NYC.

Bigger cities often have many of the limited releases, but I've never heard of something not being in those two cities

I saw it at AMC in Chicago. Didn't realize it was a limited release right now. Hopefully you can catch a showing!

Yeah, I have to drive 1.5 hours to get to the closest one in Pittsburgh, which is no big deal for me. I usually just make more plans so it's not like that's all I go down there for. But all that was playing was Disaster Artist, with no Shape of Water. They were also playing Lady Bird. There were only two theaters by Pittsburgh who play any of those.

In Wheeling, where I live by, there is nothing in terms of limited releases playing anywhere around there.

There's a fairly big theater in Cleveland though that apparently plays a ton of them. But consider that you have to drive the entire length of Ohio to get there. I'm sure they have some in Columbus too, but that's still quite a hike.

I live in a big city and a few of the larger theaters and some of the smaller ones downtown show some of the offbeat movies.

For example when Goon released my friends and I saw it opening weekend. It was only showing in one theater in the area. A 24 screen place at a mall. Basically the only theater that shows offbeat stuff. They had Goon playing on one of their smallest screens in the back with only 2 or 3 showings a night that weekend and I am pretty sure that it was gone not even 2 weeks later.

So it's relatively not that easy to watch or even know about the odd movies that are released.

LA is a different world.
