With Doug Jones to be in at the time of the vote, and Susan Collins seeming to be against it, there's fair odds. All that is needed would be one more republican.

Things to consider:

Over 70 Of republicans are against the overturning.
John McCain is currently out. Sure, he would most likely return before then, but who knows.
With the online outcry, (despite the taxvote), some senators have to remember that this could be what kills their re-election in 2018.

It's a thin margin, but not impossible.

Well considering the Republicans have sacrificed everything they have on the altar of extreme capitalism in this case, there's not much chance of any of them giving a shit. Their only option is to hope that the money out of this will sustain them for life. Meaning that the Republicans who didn't engage in shady business dealings would be the real swing vote.

Not a fucking chance. Between taxes, healthcare, potential cuts to social security/medicare next year, this relatively abstract issue is going to be way down on voters' priorities compared to the policies with greater material impact on their lives.

Never try to interfere with the average American's right to be lazy.
