JJ Abrams ruined Star Wars! Oh wait.. no.. Thank god he is saving us and doing Episode IX!

TFA is the worst movie! It's just the same as ANH! TLJ is terrible because it's not Star Wars! It's completely different!

TLJ ruined our favorite characters! You know.. because the Prequels didn't do any of that

I get it's not all the same people making these points. But the thing is, Star Wars fans as a whole are incredibly hard to please. No matter what you do, you're going end up pissing off a good portion of the fan base. It's no wonder Lucas got turned off from making movies after the Prequels and that he sold Star Wars to Disney.

Way to entirely miss the point. I'm saying that half the fanbase will make one side of these arguments and the other half will make the other side.

It's so easy to understand that something I may not like others may and vice versa. The real problem is that people feel like their opinions are worth millions and they MUST be heard.

These are not conflicting complaints.

TFA was a competent movie that worked in spite of rehashing an old plot. Complaint is justified.

TLJ is a confusing mess of a movie that didnt work in spite of some original and genuinely interesting ideas. Complaint is justified.

TFA sucked. I personally didn't have much of a problem with it rehashing ANH's plot (I do like parallels, after all), but the protagonist and antagonist both sucked, killing the movie. Aside from a few funny scenes, TFA was trash.

RLM put it really nicely in their review of Rogue One. It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. If you don't follow the existing movies beat by beat and match the tone, you've created something too different. If you following the existing movies beat by beat and match the tone, you've just rehashed it. For having a potential galaxy of creative fantasy ideas to work with, Star Wars is surprisingly very narrow in scope.

I mean considering all the bullshit the fans had to deal with happening to their favorite franchise, it is appropriate. From George Lucas retroctiviely adding in laughable cgi to all the old movies, the Christmas special, the prequels( which I actually love), the erasure of the expanded universe, no good Star Wars games in like a decade and EA having a hold over them, and now with this new subpar trilogy, Im surprised Star Wars is as successful as it is. Pretty loyal fans imo.

Most are trolls. 99% of true Star Wars fans loved TFA and TLJ.

Say that to the people who saw it in theater on the 14th (We got it in Canada a day early apparently?). Massive disappointment.
