The Twitter linked was just a regurgitation of a CNN article from the week before yesterday which said Trump intended to fire Mueller this Friday. The sources were two Democratic lawmakers. It was laughed off by Trump. Then 2 days later that Twitter was linked here saying the same debunked firing story. It is even the basis of this topic title somehow.

there's no spinning explicitly saying "I am not going to fire this guy" and then firing the guy days later as anything other than a lie

now if this shit's still going on in a month or two, he can say that after further consideration he's changed his mind and fire him, but the timeframe between him saying he wouldn't do it and the rumored firing date was way too short to be reasonable

With the Mueller thing in particular i think its pretty easy to see the Trump Fox News Cycle in action.

He is unhappy with being investigated at all. He sees it on Fox that not only is this Russia stuff pointless (after all Fox and Friends have already tried to rationalize most of the things that have been revealed), but they also report extensively on how the whole thing is a partisan witchhunt and Mueller is somehow in Clinton's pocket.

So he rampages and demands of all of his staff to help him fire Mueller which gets leaked only for Kelly to talk him off the ledge.

Its pretty easy to imagine that final step at some point not derailing the mania.

Except there's really nothing pointless to lying about it in this case. He just picked up his first major piece of legislation, of course he's gonna not want to undermine it by creating his own Saturday Night Massacre storyline.

We've literally had official White House statements saying "there are no plans to pardon Joe Arpaio" only to pardon him less than a week later, or "Comey was fired on the recommendations of the deputy AG" for him to then go on an interview and say he had already determined he was going to fire him without it.

Does Anthony Scaramucci count? He was hired at a time when Donald knew he would lose Spicer, then he was fired ten days later. Might be a stretch for what you're asking for, but rarely is it expected for someone to be fired so quickly when they're hired.

I thought Priebus and Bannon were fired a week or two after Donald defended them too; I think Bannon had a "We'll see" or two in the mix before he was fired though.

No one has been saying that the middle/lower class tax cuts are a bad thing.

We are upset that the middle/lower class receive a smallish temporary tax cut and at the same time corporations receive a massive, permanent tax cut.

We do not believe that the benefits will trickle down. And you can call it "stimulating growth" all you want, but thats trickling down.

So yeah, im happy that i will owe slightly less taxes. It doesn't affect me too terribly much because i earn so little, but im grateful just the same.

But its possible to support a middle class tax cut and to simultaneously not support a huge corporate tax cut that i feel is absurd.

As crazy as that might sound to you.

I point you to peaf who said he was appalled by the tax cuts and how he wanted to PAY the EXTRA from before and that it would kill donations. However, I calculated at donating 10% of your income at 100k income you actually tax home more after donation and taxes and that you could in theory donate like an extra 1500 or so and bring home exactly the same pay as you do now.

He disappeared after.

We is often a very general "we". It doesnt mean 100% of everyone takes this stance.

If someone was a republican and said "we are pro life" i wouldnt take that to mean every republican in history is pro life.

Just like how I am a democrat but I am not pro choice.

But if 80+ % of a group hold a stance it seems reasonable to say "we" without the need to point out the one exception.

It's a matter of scale, I understand the individual useages and whatever but I would like to see less of it regardless. As an individual I try to speak from my own singular perspective as much as possible. Not a huge deal but I think there are small but noticeable effects of tribalism or whatever as you build up in scale.
