For me it's the South Park version. It's what made me appreciate the song, and it's weirdly nostalgic! To think that a cartoon poop would hold nostalgia but it does. When the kids join in singing, I actually lose it and can't help crying a little. Makes me remember how magic Christmas was as a kid.

Probably the Carpenters because of the haunting quality to the chorus of, "Here we are as in olden days, happy golden days of yore." It's hard not to hear that line and think of the ones you've lost in your lifetime or the friends that you know for a fact you'll never see again.
