Board 8 > Who is your most financially successful childhood friend?

Unless your friends are freely trading details about their income or net worth, this is a tough thing to know exactly, but many of us can probably ascertain it based on a person's job title or lifestyle.

Back in early 2004, when I was set to graduate high school, my group of friends would get together to play poker (World Series of Poker craze was in full swing). We all stopped soon after starting college, but one friend stuck with it. Ironically, he was one of the worst players in our group, but he studied the game and got good. By the time we got together for another friend's 21st birthday party, he told me he had $50k in cash from poker winnings while the rest of us were... penniless college students. In the last few years, I think he's actually had some big tourney wins and become a known professional (I'm not saying his name). I recently found out he's also a higher-up in a blockchain company and has done a local TV news interview on BitCoin, so he very likely got into that early as well. Gotta be a multi-millionaire. There are some other friends who have done well, but he's crushed it the hardest.

My best friend from elementary school became a drug dealer. Last I heard (which was like a decade ago) he was doing super well for himself with a whole organization of other drug dealers working under him. He was going to business school so he could have the skills to keep track of it all.

I couldn't put a dollar figure to how well he was doing but none of my other friends amounted to anything close to that.

Don't know about any of my childhood friends. Plenty of my high school friends work in finance or tech and I assume many are making at least low six figures.

My best friend is training to be a cardiologist. Technically I make the most money of any of my childhood friends right now, but give him a few good years and he'll be above me.

Oh and one guy from high school, not sure if he'd be considered a friend or just an acquaintance. He's doing pretty well selling motivational books, mostly related to fitness. Not sure why people buy those kinds of books, but they do.

hard for me to say, because i went to a private high school via financial aid

therefore, many of my friends ended up having fabulously wealthy parents

i and this other guy are both working pretty good jobs/careers, but our lifetime earnings will be dwarfed by these other kids' inheritances in the end

Oh yeah. I dunno about financially, but I do have a childhood friend who's on his way to being a world renowned bassoonist. So that's pretty good.

One of my friends is a Paramedic and he married another Paramedic. Id guess they each make about $70k a year. They own an acreage and a big house that they throw big parties at. Big yard with stuff like a pool and a hot tub etc. They own two other houses that they rent out. they each owned their own house before got together and decided to keep them. they recently built a really nice garage on their acreage themselves. They go on three international vacations a year.

They don't make insane money or anything but they've been very wise about their decisions and have really reaped the benefits. I have my own developed career but.... they own three more houses than I do. I'd say they are the best off out of all my high school friends. They are doing pretty well for 29.

Pretty sure it's me, though I did lose contact with a few of them.

Definitely me of the ones I'm still in touch with though, if only because I have no school debt where they either do or make less than 2/3 what I do.

I didn't have a lot of friends growing up, but one guy I knew in high school won an Emmy for his writing on a Simpsons episode. A lady I kind of knew from a younger age does... IMDb calls it visual design, mostly, but she works on movies including the Marvel franchises. Then a lot of people earned doctorates and work as college professors.

Honestly, for all the smoke my teachers blew up my ass I've turned out to be a disappointment. I've still got an estimated 30 years left in my career and I'm nearly finished with my Masters, so maybe I can pull something off. Not Emmy award winning, but something.

A lot of people I know ended up being drug dealers. They haven't been busted yet so I guess they're doing good for themselves. I've heard stories of some of their clients and they are being paid top dollar right now.

I don't really talk to anyone from my childhood anymore, even high school. They all got replaced by college friends. I have no idea what any of them are up to, except for my best friend who I still hang out with sometimes, but he doesn't really make a lot of money
