Fraud Alert is a service that requires lenders to take additional measures to verify if you're actually who you claim to be when opening a new line of credit. It's active for 90 days once you put it on your credit record.
I activated that last month, after I was told that I may be a victim of identity fraud due to a massive breach at some company. I wanted to apply for the Uber Visa credit card, but didn't want to deal with "Fraud Alert" stuff... but figured "what the hell; why not", so applied for it. I was instantly approved. ...........so much for freakin' Fraud Alert. /eyeroll ... Copied to Clipboard!

But if it was you that opened the card, why would fraud alert trigger?

But if it was you that opened the card, why would fraud alert trigger? They're supposed to verify that it's me, by calling me, sending me a mail, asking for additional documents, etc. ... Copied to Clipboard!
