My Great Aunt died last week at the ripe old age of 95. She had been slowly dying for years and had finally been put on hospice care a few weeks earlier.

Her daughter had been taking care of her otherwise and was putting her to bed last Wednesday, and she let my grandpa know an incredible story.

My aunt had looked past her that night, looking to the empty space, and came much more alive than she had been and asked "Jan, who's that man??"

Jan looked around, alarmed, and said "Mom, there's nobody here but us."

My aunt then produced a big smile and said "Why, it's your father!"

Her husband died many, many years ago and she never remarried, saying he was the only man she ever loved.

She finished being put to bed and died peacefully in her sleep. When Janet got up in the morning, she knew that her mother was gone. Her dad was there to guide her to Heaven.

My grandpa also described waking violently in the middle of the night, jumping with a start. He looked at my grandma and she was sleeping, checked himself and he was fine, so he went back to bed. He knew later when he got the news that that was when she died, and her soul came to say goodbye to him.

Of course, it's never really goodbye; it's see you later.

Nah its definitely the end. Your Great Aunt probably had dementia or she was hallucinating. There's no reason to believe there's anything after we die.

so is he the age when he died when she gets to see him in heaven? What if he is really young in heaven and she is all old and nasty and shriveled? Will he still want that?

What if he found a new chick in heaven?

Don't worry, there is no heaven. 99% of life on this planet is a straight up horror show, hell is all around us. I sure hope reincarnation is not a thing.

Alright well I'm not sure if you're serious or not just because of the nature if this place but if you are, sorry she died but I'm glad she lived a long life at least and if you chose to take the words of someone on their death bed saying something like that as proof of some kind of afterlife then who am I or anyone else here to tell you what you should or shouldn't believe or judge you for it.
I personally am on the other side of things, but regardless of what I personally believe, on whatever chance there is of being some form of afterlife I hope she's at peace there.

Of all the animals on the planet, humans are the only ones concerned with time. We never seem to have enough of it. Multitasking becomes one of the most valuable skills you can have.

This is because we are aliens here. Much as a baby in the womb only knows that existence and they like it. It's warm, they have food, they're comfortable. Yet when it comes time for birth, they suddenly realize they weren't meant to be in the womb forever. They weren't meant to be attached to that umbilical cord forever.

The same thing happens with our death from this Earth. As we're passing, we realize that this is not where we really belong, and we can finally go home.

That's because humans are the only species that has evolved to have our level of consciousness and mental capacity to be philosophical towards existentialism. We're aware of our own mortality beyond a black and white series of instincts to avoid pain and danger.
When you reach that level of consciousness, time becomes invaluable.

To answer your question, we're talking about the eternal spirit. What we know of life in our Earthly form cannot be comprehended until we cross over. He would have appeared to her as she remembered him.
