It's sad enough that people pretend to enjoy anything less than medium for a steak, but when I see someone ask for a burger like that I want to groan.

Practically raw meat doesn't taste good. Humans evolved to enjoy cooked food. It's not wrong to enjoy your food cooked because a hipster told you otherwise.

Protip: I've worked front and back of house for years in chain restaurants and respected kitchens. You're not Guy Fieri getting a filet mignon, you're some dude who gets his opinions from the internet, and we're all laughing about it

Medium rare tends to produce the most juicy result. I eat my steaks and my hamburgers this way. Most cooks cant figure out medium well or well done. They just end up burning them because they dont realize that the meat is still cooking whenever it is removed from the flame.

No, just cooked it in a frying pan in oil, flipped once then basted with butter that I had garlic and thyme in it.

I'm feeling that sous-vide is a hipster thing atm seen ppl do rice pudding and shit in them. But maybe when I get my own place and gotten all the other essentials I will start to play with sous-vide.

Turned out well then.

Sous vide makes sense for a lot of things like thick cuts of meat, but I have no doubt people are making it a hipster thing and trying to apply it to everything.

I used to order medium rare steaks all the time.

But a couple of years ago I was with a group of friends at a restaurant, and the medium rare steak I ordered was pretty much raw. It was the most disgusting thing I ever bit into.

I was so disgusted by that steak that since then I only ever order it well done.
