I haven't seen this movie in a long time. I'm watching it again and it seems really kiddie now compared to the Netflix show. When I saw the movie for the first time I was like whoa this is really hardcore. Times certainly have changed.

The Netflix version doesnt even feel like Punisher at all. Ill take the 2004 version any day.

Aside from the Russian's death, the first one wasn't really that violent. They toned the character down significantly. In some ways, it was maybe for the best. In other ways, it was decidedly not.

What the fuck do you mean first one? The 2004 film was the second attempt at a Punisher series.

That movie was cool, I never understood the hate.

-Family murdered scene
-Blowtorch (ice popsicle) scene
-Guitar Assassin
-Russian
-Making the son hold a bomb lol
-Boss's wife is a milf
-Making the boss kill his best friend and wife then killing his remaining son then killing him slowly lolol

I was gonna say that it was the first one in reference to War Zone, but apparently that was meant as a reboot and not a sequel. So never mind.

Guitar guy was cool

I still love the movie, it's just the series took a really violent turn. I like both versions though.

Some of those things listed are problems with the film.

- While lifted directly from the comics, the popsicle scene feels like a cop out because it's a stand-in for the kind of physical torture he's known for.

- And while it was cool for him to hand Howard Saint's son a bomb and trick Howard into killing his own best friend, it was problematic because it made his revenge on them passive. The son kicked him in the face and the friend blew him up. In a film about revenge, you'd expect him to get back at the two men who defeated him in direct conflict. Instead, he passively hands the trapped son a bomb and he lets a third party take out the best friend.

I think this was even better. I mean just didn't kill them, he crushed everything about them. Made them think about what they did to have it coming.

It is my favorite punisher.

I liked it.

Having his ENTIRE family wiped out was better than just his wife and kids.

The bomb scene made sense. It basically caused the kid to kill himself. Causing Saint tokill his wife and best friend was also a smart move.

I do like the Netflix version better and War Zone version too. Though Jigsaw coming back from being crushed in a glass crusher machine just scarrred. Was dumb as hell.

The entire fight scene with the Russian Where's Waldo looking dude was 10/10.
Not necessarily for the right reasons, but it is.

I think it worked really well with Howard Saint. I made you kill your wife, I made you kill your best friend, etc. I'm just saying that I think they made a mistake in having him get such a passive revenge against the two guys who beat him up and blew him up out on the dock.

Sometimes, it's okay for your boxer to get knocked out and move on to the next opponent without a rematch. The Punisher isn't the type of character to do that with. If somebody shoots him and he survives, he can't set up a car bomb to take them out by proxy. He needs to come back and deal with them directly.

I can accept him not getting direct revenge on that Glass character because of how well that was set up, but I think he should have had a second fight with whoever kicked him in the face whether that be Howard's son or just another henchman.

It wouldn't make sense to actually torture the guy though since he wanted to use him as an asset. Fucking him up wouldn't have accomplished anything.
