It might actually be harder than Souls, but not in a good way. The world is broken up into separate levels and you can replay them (or alternate versions of them) on harder difficulties to get more rewards. The loot system is also more akin to Diablo than to Souls, so you just pick up piles upon piles of mostly useless shit.

It's not a bad game and I love the setting, but the design and execution isn't quite on par with Souls.

it's a lot faster than Dark Souls, and bosses can take you out in one or two hits.

and you need to keep an eye on your stamina, because if you run out, you'll be vulnerable for a second or two. luckily, this applies to other enemies, including bosses.

there are also multiple stances for each weapon (high = strong and slow, medium = medium strength and speed, and low = fast and weak). some enemies also use different stances

A lot of people seem to have skipped it but Dishonored 2 is an amazing game and worth more praise than it got.

Then of course, there are the more obvious choices like Uncharted 4, RE7, Bloodborne, etc...

For exclusives, I'd recommend all the Uncharted games, The Last of Us Remastered, Until Dawn, and maybe Bloodborne.

If you haven't played any of these on other systems, try Assassin's Creed Origins (plus Ezio Collection and/or Black Flag), Dark Souls series, Farcry 4 or Primal, Elder Scrolls Online, Diablo III, and Hitman.

Oh yeah, both Tomb Raider (2013) and Rise of the Tomb Raider are fantastic.

Also, if you have any interest in CoD, Black Ops III seems to be the most well-liked (besides campaign) one of the gen.

I was looking more for something thats hack-and-slash or open world with plenty of offline content and interesting lore. And where the gameplay itself is fun and feels rewarding.

I'm really casual when it comes to video games, and so I wanted to start off trying something with a decent amount of difficulty to get me used to it.

Bloodborne seems to have less online focus than the Souls game, but I still wouldn't play it offline. The messages make it worth going online, even if you don't plan to PvP.

The ones I've listed, apart from ESO, CoD, and Souls/BB are all primarily offline games.

The only AC game i've played is AC3 on 360 and I didn't do much besides mess around and fight redcoats. Has the gameplay changed from all the way then and improved? Is it better as an open world game? By that I mean is there more freedoms in the world there and a lot of side things you can do?

If actual world history counts as lore, then Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition. 82 playable characters (each having their own unique moveset), two unlockable weapons for each character, 5 story modes with a historical and hypothetical route in each, some extra non-canon stages, 5 "Challenge" stages, a mode dedicated to conquering territory...this is a game that can keep one occupied, to say the least.

That goes without saying because of the save bloating the PS3 version has alone. That shit would cripple your save and make it damn near unplayable

Yes definitely. Vanilla PS4 > Vanilla PS3 by far. It has all the advantages of next gen, but it's not perfect (i.e. framerate, but it can be fixed with mods) and it comes with all the DLC included as well.

Mods just make it a much better experience in general. I missed it last gen cause I didn't have a PC, PS3 or 360, but I picked it up last year and there's so much stuff to do it's ridiculous. My first run was without mods and I had a blast playing it the first tine. My second file with mods, the whole experience changed exponentially... I probably spent at least 3x the amount of time more than my vanilla file.

It's many of the same core mechanics as AC3, but with many changes as well. Such as much harder combat without being able to mash the button to endlessly reverse and insta kill, there's no just taking on a group of enemies as they stand there waiting for their turn to kill you. If you get surrounded by a group and just try to stand there and fight you will get your ass killed very quickly.
The missions are much less linear than before and the world has much more freedom.
You can change your weapons and build your skills on a way that is more tailored to your play style if you'd rather be in the core of combat or try to be stealthy and ranged. Both methods have their own challenges and rewards and neither feel half assed like "you can try for stealth but the game is designed to auto detect you after your first kill anyways" it's actually viable to use Eagle Vision, which in Origins is a literal eagle you call and can fly around in the air over enemies giving you a sort of drone view. You can use that and other things to actually try to strategize a stealth strategy or just go in fighting and running around like a mad man.

If you've ever played a souls game or an RPG with that type of combat, it feels a lot more like that as opposed to like a Batman Arkham game with the combat. Although it doesn't have the intentionally padded and inflated difficulty of a souls game, it still tries to stay accessable to a wide audience, but you do have difficulty settings this time around to give some more range.

The selection isn't quite as good as on Xbox or PC, but there's a few really good ones too. Lighting and weather overhauls, more trees and scenery, UI tweaks, god modes, landscape changes, improved AI, improved combat, new locations, weapons, equipment, magic, shouts, perks.

I don't know what you mean by "certain" though... there's no nude mods, if that's what you're referring to.

Its sounds interesting, and its good to hear that Eagle Vision is useful now and that the map is much more free. I'll make sure to check out more gameplay and information about AC Origins.

And running around like a mad man is probably gonna be my style if I get that game lol. So sounds good to me.

No I just wasn't familiar with mods being on consoles in general so when I asked if it had certain mods, I was asking if they were made by the game devs themselves or if other people made it and Bethesda greenlighted it or something and made it available for purchase.

Nude mod would be useless to me lol

Oh lol, well most are either made by players or ported from PC, and if Sony and Bethesda give the green light, it gets posted for download.

I don't know if it's the same as before Creation Club though, cause before all mods were free and I know CC charges money for mods.
