It's pretty meh so far

But I'm making this topic because i remember there was a thing that Anagram kept preaching about this movie.

I really disliked it. I've never said anything good about the movie. I could go into specifics about why it's bad, but really it comes down to the movie being worse than the original in every way, especially Emma Watson's singing.

The only thing I can think of like that is at the end of the movie, so I'll spoiler it in case you aren't there yet. They add a song for the Beast called Evermore after Belle leaves the castle and before she gets back to the village. In it, he sings about how she'll never come back but he'll remember her always. My issue with the song is that Beast has no reason to think Belle won't come back. Even if she doesn't come back, the song treats it like this is an absolute breakup with no hope for her returning even though at this point she may or may not come back. From his perspective, Belle had a great time with him and only left the castle to aid her elderly father, not because their relationship is over. Like I get that Belle only initially stayed with Beast because he forced her to, but nothing immediately prior to Belle departing to help her father indicates that she won't return.

Also, they made Gaston more evil even though he was already evil in the original one.

The snowball fight was the only new scene worth seeing. Everything this movie redid was done way better in 1991, and everything new was unnecessary.

i think the movie did have some more moral elements added

more effort is given to making belle her own character and having even more backbone than in the 91 version. also, gaston is more obviously a bad person to be, since the villagers think of him as an asshole too

that said there was no reason for this movie to take 2 hours, yeesh

2hrs is standard movie lenghth but some pictures do take the piss (BVS anyone?)
