I'm not talking about the shitty-graphics spinoffs. The games in the series.

This started with ffxii: the worst non-online final fantasy to date. Just give us a regular turn based game with no bullshit gimmicks. Everything after 10 was horrible (13 was fun).

No more real time. No more open world or action rpgs. NO MORE ONLINE GAMES IN THE NUMBERED SERIES.

I couldn't follow it after 6/3. Honestly, it just doesn't appeal to me. The storylines are dumbed down, the characters are basically all just awkward teenage stereotypes, and I absolutely hate games, where I spend, have of my time on rails being forced from one scripted cutscene to the next. I mean, I get why people like it, but it's just not my thing and barring an absolute 180 towards the 'classic' games, I don't see myself returning any time soon.

10 was the last good one IMO.

They need to go back to something like X or X-2. Hell even XIII wasn't bad game play wise.

But it seems Square has other series/games for the traditional fans so I'm not too upset. Just waiting on the PSX Era to get a spiritual successor like the Nes/SNES did

pretty sure that it's 100% turn based, you can move your character freely in one mode on PS4 but it doesn't even do anything unlike DQX

No.... Kresnik was right, FF12 was one of the worst Final Fantasy games to date. Terrible storyline, god awful graphics even on a tube tv, and a cast of characters I honestly couldn't give a flying fuck about.

It suffered from the same problems as FF15 does. The wrong characters are highlighted as the final villains of the game, over complicating the storyline instead of having a flowing storyline. I mean we have Vaan who is the main character. He should have been a super bitter character pissed off against the empire because his brother was killed off in the first 2 minutes of the game. But no, instead of we get a whiny character who doesn't even mention the above 99 percent of the story, save for 2 very small parts of the game.

It could have been amazing, had Basch been the main character, it kept the airship system from the 9 below games, and Vaan was a character who had to learn to get over his hatred over the entire game.

Today's ff is not even ff anymore. Not a single core element that made the games great stayed from 13 and on.

It's like a new type of game each release with the ff name.

Exactly. That game was SO BORING! People wanted a remake of VII, but we don't want that action rpg, fast paced crap.

Real time is boring. You select a few options and then you can put the controller down for a few minutes while the characters fight for you.

I like to control my whole party.

Its pretty sad. My favorite games ever are 6, 7 and 8 but I dont know if Ill ever get anything like that from a new FF again.

I agree that 8 was one of the best, but many causal gamers didn't understand how to play it and bashed it.

I don't really understand what who I am has to do with individual opinions on video games. FF12 was just inputting commands and putting down the controller. FF13 had constant paradigm shifts. Put the controller down and you're gonna lose to a random enemy.

You tell me which game sounds more entertaining.

The only good thing about FF13 imo was the battle system. Sadly those unlikable character nonsense mess or a story and linear game play hurt it.

That said it was IMO better then 12 which was basically an offline MMORPG and I don't like regular MMOs why would I want to play an offline one? Plus I hated that out team felt like side characters in a much better story we only got glimpses of.

I agree with this. I've had fun with 10 and 13, but they were nothing on the greats.

Yeah, that's a really good way to sum up 12. We didn't even get a real 11 or 14, either. Those should not have been given numbers.

13 is a fun way to pass time and I think the faster paced battles were exactly what the series needed after the slowest game of the series. I thought Sahz and Vanille were pretty cool. I liked their segments.

While we are on the subject, are FF13-2 and Lightning Returns similar to the first, or was it some FF10-2 crap?

Final Fantasy does need to go back to its turn based roots and ff12 is shit . Last descent final Fantasy was X . 15 was the biggest disappointment along with mgs 5 .ever heard the phrase " if it ain't broke don't fix it" if they screw up ff7 remake I'm just going sell it and be done with square .

I think so. They betrayed the fans and we trusted them. I'll never forget the moment when I experienced combat for the first time. I was so disappointed.

This was 100% my fault because when I searched for info, I only wanted to make sure it was not another online game. I had no idea they would give us something so stale and half assed.

FF2 wasn't even that bad of a game. Sure the mechanics were a bit strange but it was still better than the worst FF game FF3 for the NES.
