You still lose value whether or not you care about the cards. You pay the $25 for 12000 dust worth of cards and using 3000. It's essentially finding a deal on something and reselling at the same price rather than caring about what the true value is. Not that I can blame you for not giving a shit about the full value of stuff like Maenexxa. But I still think you'd be better served buying packs of something you're missing a good amount of (or saving it for the new set) unless you desperately need dust now.

Also you say you don't want to play wild because you'd have to drop lots of money but you're trying to drop money on Standard. It isn't like dust costs are much different between the two at this point. Only diffetence between your 10k dust standard and wild deck is that one wont rotate. A lot of decks only have a few upgrades between formats too. I guarantee it ends up cheaper than keeping up with Standard as long as you can deal with playing against Patches forever.

I see your point, but if someone is only ever going to play standard, I'd argue that the cards aren't worth 12000 dust, they have no value at all. If the Nax cards appeared in my collection right now, and I wasn't able to dust them, they'd be absolutely worthless to me, or to anyone who will never play wild, even if they were free. It's like saying "hey here's this game. You'll never play it, and you can't sell it either, but trust me, it's worth a whole lot". How does that help me?

I'm not currently in need of dust right now, and there isn't anything specific I'm looking for in packs. It's more of a "would you spend $31 on 3000 dust" question, because that's what it represents in the store for me.

I have no issue spending cash on the game at this point, but $31 Canadian gets me 17 packs in the store. Assuming an approximate 100 dust average, that's 1700. If I'm lucky, I might get a legendary out of those 17 as well. Thinking about it, the value probably does end up being similar either way.

It's not just that but you simply need so much more dust now. A lot of the power has shifted to the Epics and Legendaries and they don't have good budget replacements because the effects are so unique. Even aggro decks are 5k+ now. Rotation will help a bit but as long as that design philosophy continues it'll just be a dust treadmill.

I personally believe in keeping your old cards rather than dusting them, but I respect the decision to play only standard if that's your choice.

Regarding wild, I don't see a whole lot from year 1 there that sees play. There are so many cards and decks now that not having GvG/TGT isn't really that much of a hindrance unless you feel like you really have to be able to play mech mage or secret paladin. Life really does go on without Dr. Boom. There's a few toy cards in there that might be helpful, like Justicar Trueheart, but you won't be ineffective just because you missed that time period. I think you'd be hurting more on missing naxx than anything else, tbh. If you dusted your year 2 cards, though, then I guess it's pretty much a done deal.

If you are going the route of buying Naxx in order to dust it, I think I'd still feel better buying packs. As pure dust, you probably don't come out behind, and you have the chance to pull cards you want, which means you save 3/4 of the cost on those. I will concede HeroDelTiempo's point, though, which is that epics and legendaries are more noteworthy in decklists than they once were. There isn't a substitute for a 0 mana 5/5 that might come down on turn 3, or for a 3/9 taunt that summons three smaller taunts on death. To say nothing of the death knights, obv.

I finally got to play Azari from my hand. It was against a big spell mage (A deck that has like no card draw). So it hit like 8 cards in the deck. You don't see what they are but I'm assuming Alana, Mediv, and Pyroblast were among them. He got me pretty low but once I remembered that he can't run fireball (or at least probably doesn't) I was able to accelerate out my seals faster instead of worrying about my HP which my spell stones would get me.

Started the brawl without any idea of what it was, got a Warrior deck and had war flashbacks when I saw 1 mana Execute. Thought I was through with that card.

Edit: 2 mana Win Axe. God I hope I get the pack quick so I can go back to never seeing these cards again.

And the Druid runs Chillwind Yeti! Flashbacks!

I got Pavel's Druid and went up against Firebat's Hunter, which included unnerfed Undertakers. I managed to get Tree of Life off of a Raven Idol on turn 8, then played it on turn 9 after I was put to 1 health. I got the concede win after that.

I won with Firebat's hunter... and it counted towards my win with priest quests.

I won with Warrior and it didn't count toward my Warrior quest so I'm guessing they treated these new cards like bosses in previous Tavern Brawls and just overwrote classes at random. Would also explain why the names change for you and your opponent.

i got firebats druid and im like "well this sucks" and then i noticed BGH was 3 mana and im like "OMFG". It suddenly became amazing. People with like knowledge of the game way in the past 100% has a huge advantage in this brawl.

Won with Pavel Mage against a Firebat Rogue who played more like a Tempo Rogue

Also decided to do dungeon runs again cause I didnt complete all the classes. My warlock run had 3 Guldans, Skull and 3 Doomguards, and Wish so that was super fun. My Paladin run was just a bunch of big creatures and I killed Toggwaggle cause I had Rag and boots of haste on my opening hand

Primalfin Champion is the most obvious snub.

Tirion feels out of place. There's a few other buff cards that can work out fun. The one that revives a minion to 1 up after it dies is really fun with the murloc that returns buffs to your hand after it dies.

Primalfin Champion is interesting, but I think putting him in makes the deck TOO reliant on the buff cards. Which I know sounds kinda stupid when talking about a deck with Galvadon and Lynessa in it.

I crafted gnomeferatus

Played a bunch of zoolock and such against it. Like the fourth game I finally get a priest.

Play the first gnome on two and mill Raza. For some reason the priest kept playing like he could win.

On turn 9 I defile clear and play the second one... and mill anduin.

The priest still thought he cou... no he conceded.

One of my very first Gnomeferatu games was against a Priest where I milled Anduin and Velen, and I felt great. On top of the whole damn world. And then I lost. Guy stole my Guldan from me and burned me down with that instead.

Tried playing Kingslayer mill Rogue today, things didn't go so well. Or at all. Turns out there's an infinite combination of cards you can draw that do nothing but sit in your hand, making you wonder what the hell you're supposed to do from there. Not sure how long I'll keep playing it, not a ton of fun so far. Especially after seeing a Toast clip today, I'm definitely going to be playing that stupid Corrupted Healbot OTK deck soon.

DocPwn is so interesting to watch. He's not a full-time player, and since we were first introduced to him in early 2017, everyone has been discounting him and pointing out how he plays poorly, which he often does, and yet he just keeps on winning. He's got Pavel RNG multiplied by 10.

Hit legend. Was playing warlock for a bit from like 3 to 1 but started to run into like only priest so I switched to priest where I went 5-0.

Match in brawl. I was playing Freeze mage versus Pavels rogue.

My draw was really bad. Both fireballs at the bottom of the deck and Alex was the last card. I had ice block up and the rogue swashed frost lich jaina which gave him two chances of winning the game.

I have 4 HP and he has a 3 attack minion. I have no deck. So all he has to do is attack me with a water elemental and pass. He could also double trade his two water elementals into my 4 HP alex and heal above my max burst (I had 19 and him attacking in once put him exactly to 19).

Well he fucks up on both of them and not only doesnt attack with both elementals but also opts to attack me with his 4 attack auctioneer first.

Really now.

I just played, and lost, because I always lose to it even after it was nerfed and one plays the thing, a quest Rogue. One that activated his quest with Saronite Chain Gang. Kind of threw me off when he first played it, then more so when I realized it wasn't just to keep his bitch minions alive but he bounced those things back and forth instead.

I probably killed 30 5/5s by the end? It felt more like some kind of endurance brawl where you just survive as long as you can, which I definitely didn't help by playing the slowest of slow control Warlocks.

Weird games at rank 18 this time of the month. Followed that up with a Sunkeeper Paladin running Young Dragonhawks.

Quest rogue is a legit counter deck in legend ladder and tournaments.

I dont think anyone is crazy enough to bring it to like a big event. But to like a qualifier sure.

Miracle rogue is a deck i ran for a while and its just too inconsistent.

Funny story. I was playing control warlock (no cube) versus a miracle rogue and he shuffed in spiders twice and had 5 of them in the deck.

So he has minions i have minions... I have defile. One of his minions on the field draws him a card. I defile and minions die out comes ALL 5 spiders and they all die during the defile.

draft hunter 5-0.

5-0 game. Mage gets vocanic potion from chemist (remember its not a discover) AND a blizzard from a spellstone.

5-1 game. Priest uses thought steal. Gets crushing walls. Also had 2 novas and 2 coldlight seers in the first 10 cards. Also an alchemist. Really if only one of these things don't happen I win the game. Like he could of had 2 novas and 1 seer, or like 2 and 2 and no crushing walls.

Deck went 8 wins. Lost the third time to a paladin who got rat from portal and also had a godly call to arms to block my crushing walls.

This is the warlock i'm playing 22-7 so far ranks 3 to legend. Really good versus aggressive lists and completely stomps on big spell mage. It is unfortunately weak to raza priest.
