On cold days like today if I run I'll start wheezing horribly compared to a warm day.

In the beginning of my running program I figured my asthma symptoms would go away as I got better, but months into running they're still regularly occurring so I suppose this is just something I will have for my entire life. In fact I read elite athletes are more likely to have asthma compared to normal people.

So I'll just take my inhaler before every run now, and warm up longer than usual. Any other runners that experience attacks have any advice?

JustMyOpinion posted...
I do not experience these attacks when I run. Just letting you know.

It only affects about 15% of runners

FWIW I also get attacks from some animal fur

i have asthma but i'm not a runner. i got into the habit of taking my rescue inhaler before physical activity (hiking, playing sports, etc) because if i didn't, it just meant i would have to take a break during and take a hit. my asthma is always more sensitive in cold weather.

I'm really terrible at outdoor running/jogging. When I was in elementary school and 100% healthy my PE teachers took me aside because they thought I might have asthma. I can run fine on treadmills for mile long stretches though...and no, I don't cheat or anything.

I am I - you are you. These are irrefutable truths. Possibly.
