That being said, that fine is outrageous and it shows just how biased the court system is today. If that was done with any other group, that would be unthinkable but apparently, it is okay in this case (it's not). Its puzzling cause you're essentially saying that you'll accept their money one way but not the other They may have specifically been trying to find a middle ground to meet business regulations. By offering them a stock cake, but refusing to bake them a special made one, they were effectively not refusing service as a business, but refusing service as a craftsman. An individual can't force another individual to do labor on their behalf, but a business can't turn away a customer either. The question is, if the couple was offered a stock cake by the owner at the beginning, why did the couple pursue legal action in the first place? --- "History Is Much Like An Endless Waltz. I just double checked the link and I do remember this story as I was talking about it with a lawyer. It was truly bullshit considering that it was highlighted that it was for a gay event and the couple had already said before that they didn't service it.
Not only that, the couple specifically went to these people (when there were many other places open in the area) and refused them when they said that another place would have been better. It was basically entrapment and they damn well knew it (as has happened in the US with several cases of this happening with the people trying to sue). This story happened back in 2013 so it has been a few years since then but I don't agree with it. People can say what they like, I've said my part. ... Copied to Clipboard!
