what's the best way to play Tactics?

I've heard from a few people that the mobile version is the optimal one but I'm waiting until I get a new phone before trying it myself.

Here's how I see the Blackscar thing in retrospect.

A lot of us have messed around with the bot at some point, to see what works and what doesn't and how robust the programming is. Blackscar couldn't have known in advance that his exploit would work. And once it did work...well, the round has to be re-run (either partially or fully), which can't happen until morning, since it's the middle of the night and GMUN is asleep.

So I think it's a fair reaction to say "oops, I broke the bot, but since things have to be re-run anyway, I might as well have some fun with this alt-timeline I created." Like, spamming names for three hours doesn't cause any more harm after the initial fake save necessitates a redo. Also it's funny.

But then Blackscar came in the next morning and was a complete dick to GMUN about the whole thing, so I have no problem with community rule'ing him out.

okay MWC as a fellow FF7 saver, I think you are out of line here.

I know you have a problem with the way GMUN handled the re-run (redoing the whole round instead of just redoing everything after the exploit started). I'm not objecting to that; I think your position has merit. But continuing to harp on it for so long, and declaring some kind of vendetta on GMUN, just makes everyone more bitter and probably comes back to screw your (our) characters over in the long run.

GMUN puts a lot of work into maintaining the bot. It's sometimes buggy but, eh, he didn't have to make a bot and a contest in the first place. So like...have some appreciation? It's not like a paid job where you can say you're entitled to x level of functionality, it's a fun spare time project, and GMUN works to improve issues whenever they're brought to his attention.

I literally have said as much, it would have been better had he scrapped the whole project after his aimmense failure as opposed to what he did....

There isn't a possible way to have handled it worse. Short of actually disqualifying the 3 who were safe and letting the 2 eliminated have a match in the finals.

Which he pretty much did anyway..... so yeah.

And I don't care if anyone gets more bitter and I have one hell of a vendetta here.
I don't care if it costs my characters cause I was only trying to win for Steiner as a thank you.

I can care less. My guy finally won the real one.

I'm not sure what you mean. Are you saying that Cloud was a virtual lock for the finals in SMFFFC XIX? (fair, I think "lock" is a bit much but he was consistently strong through the top 20) Or that Sephiroth was a virtual lock for the last contest? (obviously he would've survived the exploit round, but after that, it was a tossup imo; Seph wasn't looking particularly great)

Squall was an absolute lock once Laguna went out, and still had a very very good chance before that.

Seph was much stronger than Gilgamesh and roughly even with Kefka. But part of that is because I was doing everything to get Squall and Seph there same time. Once Laguna was gone I was gonna go 100% Sephiroth, which should have put him over Kefka safely.

I don't think any of the Laguna savers were planning on switching to Squall if he went out there, fyi. I would have switched to Gilgamesh and Drak would have probably switched to Seph.

like the only one that might is ecksgem and for some reason I think he's more likely to switch to Kefka.

I don't have anything automated for the STATS yet aside from what the bot posts yet, but if you want you can follow along with my excel sheet

Hmm, the total STATS percent just says ### or Err:509 depending on the page (and it puts the non-placed newbies at the very top lol), but it works for the general gist of things.
