Luke says he had experience as a pilot, Biggs his old friend backs this up, we see wamp rats are small as fuck targets. Luke has the credentials to back his skills, amd Luke barely survived Vader.

If Han did not come to save his ass Vader would have shot him down, he did so on thr other two x wings, and even says hmm the force is strong with this one as in Luke has skill and luck.

But Luke wasn't a great pilot because he trained everyday. He was great because he was strong in the Force. Same thing with Anakin.

Both Yoda and Obi-Wan's lesson was to let the Force guide him. To just do it.

Besides Rey was living in a rough planet as a scavenger. It's not like she ever stated it was her first time flying anyway. We see her using her staff in combat.

Unless stated otherwise, this is bullshit to justify Rey being perfect in TFA. It's heavily implied that the Force doesn't give you talent, it just enhances what you're good at.

Err what?

Anakin was a slave kid and literally built C-3PO! And won a pod race!
What do you think these quotes mean?

Luke: All right, I'll give it a try.

Yoda: No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try.

[Using the Force, Yoda effortlessly frees the X-Wing from the bog]

Luke: I don't, I don't believe it.

Yoda: That is why you fail.

Yoda: You must unlearn what you have learned.

I'm just saying that he already had Jedi reflexes and skill despite not even knowing the Jedi exist.

This was a trope in KOTOR as well. The main character in that game is naturally good at building droids and racing.

She was a scavenger on a rough planet. Do you seriously need a random montage of her fixing and returning ships? Do we need every single thing spelled out in a sci-fi movie?

Who taught Anakin how to build droids and fix pods? He was keeping that secret from his owner. What does it matter? He's good at it because he's strong in the Force. He has a natural talent to do things.

It's pretty weak because it's a pretty large conspiracy to cover up and why would Luke hide her on that shit hole.

I'll over look it to explain...

Leia subconsciously remembers her niece and hugged her after Hans death.

Reys natural affinity for jedi shit was because of previous training.

This topic makes me mad. I was happy thinking TLJ was a mediocre to okay movie with its issues, but now I remember that they dropped one of the most interesting introductions into TFA with the Knights of Ren. What the hell man? They had so much promise, but it's like the director was too interested in pulling the wool over our eyes to make a movie with decent progression, build up, and world building.

Couldn't be any more right on that one. Which goes back to my point about surprise superseding actual development in this movie. Even if they're in XI, not even a brief mention of them being off on some planet or something is a missed opportunity.

My last hope is that XI will have Kylo abandoning the First Order to team up with Rey to defeat them, then he does off on his own and does his own nomad shit since he still doesn't like the Sith or Jedi.

Resistance has to get the band back together.

I can see the Knights of Ren being his top minions. He's king of the castle and has no interest copying the Sith so he doesn't have to follow the rule of two like Snoke probably was.

I hope he doesn't find redemption. He has no excuse anymore. He didn't fall because he loved someone and was worried about losing them. He doesn't have a dark overlord overlooking him anymore. He has total power and he still wants to be evil and rule the galaxy.

He's ultimately a weak person who lashes out at everyone and everything around him. I hope his demise reflects this. He shouldn't get to be redeemed just because his grandfather did.

I hope the first order turns on him and he's left with nothing and no one. I think that would be a fitting end for him and his character arc.

See a lot of those Redemption arcs usually begins with the person in question doing things they really didn't have a choice in or got caught up in the situation.

But Rey offered Ren a way out. He made the choice to be where he is now.

Only way out without killing him is becoming a hermit on Ach-Two living out the rest of his days in quiet reflection.

Once more he loses almost every fight.
And the one fight he wins, is because he hits a women from behind and then the floor falls from under her.
When he as beaten by up and was leaving the showing.
He had like 7 pratfalls , is beat up time after time, is conned, fails at his mission on like 3 different levels.

Her not telling people her plan was just bad leadership. There are told that there are only a few people left and they are just watching ship after ship run out of a fuel and be blown up. Seemingly many people knew her, people knew of her but not who she really was. And the first thing she does is just seeming run and let them die. People else where have attacked Poe for his mutiny. But given the information that we had, they was really the best call. I mean he was still a commander (an officer) and she isn't telling him anything.

I think some retconning is likely.

I think Snoke may return in some way.

It's possible we get more info on Rey's family.

I think Luke is definitely dead, but will return as a ghost.

The Knights of Ren....may or may not make an appearance. Idk, it's weird how they've kinda been mentioned as a powerful force but we don't know anything about them. I think it's possible they'll be retconned into Snoke's guard unless they're integral to the plot of 9, because otherwise it seems weird to bring in this whole team in the last movie. Tho I would welcome it...i was hoping to see more of them in 8, but now that's all muddled up because apparently Ben destroyed the temple on his own. idk.

Oh in complaining about the Vice Admiral I forgot something that really irked me. Luke almost killed his nephew while the kid was sleeping.. I know he changed his mind , but damn. Kylo woke up to that, that is a reason to change sides. Luke should have been doing everything he could to explain himself and not just hide out. The Truest of heroes Luke fucking skywalker, actions led directly to all of the hardships that the universe is facing with the New Order now.

I'm fine with that. Too many times someone like him is presented as unshakeable and I was glad to see him making a horrific mistake like that.

So let him make his first mistake. ( I will never agree with that but whatever). After he made his mistake he didn't nothing to the fix it. His inaction led the deaths of millions if not billions.

He was never in any kind of leadership or mentorship role prior to that. He was wholly unprepared for what failure would do to him.

Luke saw the growing darkness in Kylo. He feared if he didn't do something, that would have happened inevitably anyway. He failed big time though in considering going in for the kill, which warranted an appropriate visit from Yoda and a lecture about lessons through failure. The whole point of this trilogy is that there isn't black and white "good vs evil" anymore. Everyone has imperfections, failures, and we start to explore a different side of the force.

What should he have done to fix it? Kylo woke up and that was that. Maybe an apology letter?

Luke is the guy who went on suicide mission to try to pull out the one last oz of goodness in Vader. But because he saw the dark side in his nephew he was going to murder him in this sleep. That is bull crap.

And what could he have done to fix it, anything besides letting him get more powerful and help take over the Universe. You talk about Ret-cons . Everything we knew about Luke was retconned in this movie.

The dude was his father, of course he'd try. However, he was also in the presence of someone like the Emperor. When he said he felt the growing darkness, who's to say he wasn't talking about Palpatine? You're making assumptions based on what you wanted Luke to be but he's only human.

Who he sensed was already turned by Snoke. Igniting his lightsaber was a critical mistake that he recognized literally a half-second after but he knows what true darkness would feel like.
