Board 8 > How often do you buy new clothes?

Feel like I might be slacking at twice a year. Categorize it however you like between the different items. I literally only shop twice a year for anything that could be considered clothing, even things such as shoes and boots etc. I spend somewhere around $250 each time.

I go to thrist stores/second-hand shops a couple times a month but it's pretty hit and miss, so I don't always buy something. Actually buying new clothes probably only like once or twice a year

Pretty much never. My wardrobe is 100% T-shirt and Jeans/Jean Shorts, and I have entirely too many shirts already. I've limited myself to Chiefs/Royals accomplishments shirts (like winning the division) and stuff I see online that I really want, plus the occasional underwear/socks purchase when I'm at Wal-Mart.

pretty much never. i still have some clothes from 2002. i get clothes every year for Christmas. that's more than enough.

unless you count shoes. i absolutely have to try on shoes, unlike everything else.

I go big with a few hundred bucks every few years to get a decent rotation of clothes I actually think looks good, but outside of those times it's only like $50 every once in a while on basic stuff like new socks, pants, jackets, underwear, shoes.

I probably average much less than the $500 a year spent on clothes you set as the slacker line in any case despite being above that line on the "big" years.

I was going to say not often, but then I thought about it and if you include every article of random clothing. It was more then I had initially thought.

I'll buy a random shirt online one month and another at a convention. Then my underwear wear out and need replacement. I'll get a flannel in the winter then need a pair of socks. Throw in a dress shirt or two becasue JCPenney was going out of business and the clearance rack at Mens Wearhouse was 75% off. Suddenly it seems that I buy clothing all the time, even it isn't a large amount.

coats are an exception, those are bought as needed

and ofc a fun activity is trawling through a thrift store for costume material or something, but that doesn't really count in my eyes

Socks and boxers slightly more often

the rest are hand me downs, thrift store buys, or gifts from my mom or ex-wife

The last time I tried shopping for clothes, I bought a pair of pants and they were the wrong size. Went to exchange them, got another wrong size. Returned those and haven't tried again.

I'll just stick with the clothes I already have it's not like I'm growing anymore

Only when my pants rip, my shoes wear out, or something's too ratty. I want it to look good, sure, but I don't need to buy new stuff every other month or anything.

My mom does much of my clothes shopping since I usually ask for clothes for Christmas or my birthday. I am the type who is like "If it still fits and isn't torn or ratty, why do I need a new one?"

I still have some undies from high school, though. I'm slowly getting rid of the ones that have holes in them as I can afford new pairs.

Depends. Like I have maybe 8 pairs of jeans and a bunch of shorts and stuff so Im good there. Also some more formal things etc . I used to buy graphic tees all the time so i have like a surplus.

Like basically il buy something if it really catches my eye. But almost everything I get is still from like independent sellers or like discount designer places

This, but it's piecemeal. I'll see a shirt online that I like. Or maybe I'll go to the store and get a shirt + pants. I wouldn't usually drop $250 at once.

Also like 90% of my clothes budget is stuff for work. For casual clothes I am pretty much set unless I see something I really like.

also depends how much you spend. I don't buy often but the stuff I get tends to be expensive.

Like my once every 2/3 months if something strikes my fancy. Usually tops out at $30.
