Its insane because a lot of the main FF games are great. Its just Tactics is so much better than any of them that it is insane. Tactics is easily one of the best games ever made

It really is. I think it would have been much more deserving of an official title than 11 or 14, because those are online, pay-as-you-play games, which should not have been main titles.

It certainly does need a true sequel, not "let's explore storybook land" junk.

That Project Ivalice thing was garbage. The gba/ds "sequels" were fun, but I'm good on the whole "playing as an immature child" thing. I really disliked that while childish focus that they forced on the games. I believe that project ivalice was behind ffxii, as well, which was an embarrassment to the franchise.

The developers need to stop designing games for themselves and realize that people are ready for a return to the normalcy of a fun, long TURN-BASED RPG. It's like they refuse to give us what we want and just try to do something unnecessarily new every time. The series always did something new, but didn't need to abandon the turn based combat where you control your whole Party.

Too true. I think there's plenty of threads left hanging to pull one together too.

Or better yet center on Orann getting killed for being a heretic and stage the plot around him trying to get the report out there originally. Start at the graveyard and end at his death. Boom.

The gameplay balance in that game was fucking atrocious. Some combos were so overpowered you could solo ramza the whole game and there were a ton of trap options that actively worked against you if you tried to use them but it's not clear what they were.

I like the FFTA series much better because the game is actually balanced.

FFT you can master a job in a single battle by subbing knight and killing all but a single enemy and then using atk down repeatedly. That's bullshit.

Holy Blade/Sidewinder/Sonic Boom/Ultima/Concentrate/Doublecast Summon/Assassin class

They even get field nukers more broken than the Calculator class, especially in 2 when you can pair them with double sword and magick frenzy to attack every enemy on the field twice after nuking them with a spell

Plus the entire fucking law system - it's annoying, but it can also be turned around on the enemy to be used to your advantage. Fighting a bunch of gunners? Ban guns/ranged attacks and they literally can't do shit to you

But yeah, that's totally good balance

Oh, everyone in position now? Okay, now we can start

Wrecks map in one turn

You think it's a good idea to make random Mission Items, one time only, and give you a limited fucking space so you HAVE to throw some away to make room, but better make sure you know which ones are One Time Only, or your game is fucked if you want to do them all.

Oh, you thought destroying all of your friend's fantastic new lives was awesome? Get fucked, Marche.

Fuck that game. Instant Ultimate Shots from across the map, Instant Quicks, 100% Stops, and you think FFT is broken. What a joke

HOly shit, I forgot about the fucking Assassins. 97% KO, get fucked AI

And it's not exactly something you figure out. The game never tells you that your Brave number is your Reaction %, so why get it up to 97 if you didn't know? None of them will grind out for Math, and even if they did, they woudln't know how to use it well enough to abuse.

The only thing the game strait gives you that is way too OP is Orlandu

Unlike in FFTA where all the broken shit is right on the surface.

Didn't you know that the game puts every character to 97 brave, auto equips Hamedo, and if you ever lose a battle you get to restart it with a full party of TG Cids?

Jesus Christ, it's like adults crying about the Lazy Shell in SMRPG making a game designed for kids too easy.

the fight requires knowledge of the fight going into it.

if you go to that fight without the chameleon robe on Ramza you basically auto lose unless you grind so much that Ramza is more buff The Hulk.

but that wasn't the point.

the point is, with knowledge of the mechanics, it's stupid easy to break FFT.

The best you can do in FFTA is have some really strong characters.

You also can't always count on shit like being able to ban guns when the enemy is a bunch of gunners, and you can't always count on being able to use crutch abilities that you've been using.

Furthermore, even if you can use them, they're just really strong abilities. Nothing in the game is instant-win material Except postgame Judgemaster Cid joins and he makes TG Cid look like a fucking scrub but that's only postgame.
