Unfortunately I think only the dealerships can replace car keys. You might need it towed.

My automatic starter is behind my radio

are you sure that you didn't read that there is an extra key hidden in the Key FOB? most cars don't include a traditional ignition switch anymore, though, so its pretty much worthless...

Not sure what you mean

My mom said 10 years ago when she had some mechanic install the remote starter, he took the spare key to use for that. So it's apparently attached to the remote starter. I just don't know where it is, I looked under the hood of the car which is where she remembers it being, didn't see it. Might have a mechanic look for it tomorrow

So it's probably hidden away somewhere, right? If it were behind my radio i'd have to take the radio out for example?

It's likely in or under the dashboard. Take it apart and check there.

Thanks I'll check tomorrow when it's daylight

Is my mom right that remote starters use a spare key to work?

Okay then I guess my problem is not that big, I just need to find the remote starter... I won't need to pay for a new key if I can find that

In my limited understanding, no.

It's all done electrically. There's a unit installed in the car that's wired to make the car start. A receiver of sorts. A key is not needed.

Well I hope she is right. She says she remembers distinctly the mechanic taking her only spare key and saying it needs to be in the remote starter
