Folks may remember my topic about playing through DR1 a few months ago, so this is a follow up I guess. I'm kinda a bit into the game now though, so this topic is late. Starting the investigation for the second case. I have a few theories that I'm gonna throw out here in a bit. I also have no idea what the deal was with Monokuma's arcade game.

Anyway, RE: case 2, I'll spoiler tag it just in case, but:

I sadly caught one small detail very early that pointed right at the killer, so DR2's case 2 remains one of the most obvious cases in the series for me, which is a shame because it's a strong case otherwise.

I think I've figured it out

It's Kazuichi. He was late showing up to meet with Hajime because he was busy committing the crime. He was also the first person to arrive at the beach house after Hiyoko left, meaning he could've planted the gummy before Hajime got there.

The whole plan to go babe watching with Hajime was just his way of making himself an alibi

It's one thing to know the culprit (which I won't confirm or deny if you have it) , but you do also know how the culprit did it? How did the culprit set up the murder? How did the culprit get away from the murder scene?

Speculation and theorizing is the biggest hidden gem of DR, which I completely missed in the previous 2 games rushing into the class trials.

Since you got to that point, I should also mention that you can always check your theory with the evidence. Does your theory account for all of it? Then you know you got it.

I played through dr2 recently and started v3 not long ago. Awesome series. It has quickly become one of my favourites ever.

Since you're clearly already past it...

As soon as I saw the discarded water bottles, I recalled Peko being wet in the diner and figured it out. She was my lone suspect past that point because it just connected too well. It's a bit of a shame that I caught onto that, because I feel like I would have had several suspects otherwise, but it was still a fun case to solve with some great twists.

This. Case 5 is easily the best case. I even just recently watched someone play through it on YouTube just so I can see their reactions.

I also thought case 2 was one of the worst cases in the series. I just didn't like everything involving the arcade machine, but everything outside of that was fine.

Case 1-3 is the worst for me. At least 1-1 had the excuse of being literally the first case of the series.

Case 2-5 is the undisputed best in the series. 2-6 made me lose respect for a cast member, but in no way did it dampen my enjoyment, in fact it added more depth to my enjoyment of the series. That being said, the nonstop ride of DR2's ending made me lose sleep at night.

So hurry TC and finish the game so we can discuss it.
