I don't blame ya since it's not on consoles. But I truly think that if it were and more people had a chance to play it, it would be dominating more game of the year awards. It's an unbelievably incredible indie. If you're holding out for the Switch version I promise it's worth the wait.

I got tired of walking around that huge game world. The travel options they give you just aren't enough for me.

Beyond that, though, I thought the game was near perfect and was constantly impressed with it.

I'm interested - but there's no reason to buy it on non-sale while I have a backlog. I'm certain the game is worth full price, but there's no logical reason to pay full price while I have other games in progress

It was like 2D Dark Souls with faster movement, and the story is actually intelligible without Youtube explanations! Plus the City of Tears was absolutely gorgeous.

Basically this. I have too much other stuff to play to be able to justify paying full price for anything that I know will eventually be much cheaper.

The game is a masterpiece ... I'm 30 hours in and still haven't beaten it.

It feels like Dark Souls: Super Metroid edition.

i agree with you. i was waiting for it to hit the switch. but i bit the bullet and bought it for pc.

it's alright. i still like metroid 3, axiom verge and castlevaina gba series a lot better.

The art work is great but i feel like like most of the maps are really boring. I haven't beat the game. i only got to the 4th level/world (i don't know what you would call it)

I didn't like axiom verge at all (too samey and uninspired), so I hope I don't get let down by this one

At least I got over the sour taste of axiom verge with environmental station alpha thanks to lok!

Question about the dark souls comparison though... I thought Salt & Sanctuary was the 2d dark souls game? I'm surprised to see that comparison made here, because I thought Hollow Knight was more of a metroidvania than anything?

It's more metroidvania. the thing that make it dark soul is that you die in about 3 hits. once you die you lose all progress through the dungeon and all your souls. You have to kill you dead spirit to get you souls back. If you die before you get your soul back you lose it all.

Salt & Sanctuary really feels like 2D dark souls. This is more metroidvaina with a light dark souls.

it's kind of like Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia in difficulty. but when you die you have to go back and get your money/soul back or don't. you don't earn up. you just learn new powers.

I think we all agree on the Metroid part but ...

I say its more Dark Souls than Castlevania not just because of the "you die, you need to reclaim your soul/geo ... but also because the world is mysterious and the way the NPCs slowing clue you in on what is happening, then little touches that spoilers ... that boss fight that starts by you sitting on a safe bench ... then it turns out its a trap..

It feel and tone ... its definitely more Dark Souls to me but its fine either way because in many ways Dark Souls is Castlevania PERFECTED in 3D.

Sorry for the weird quotes. i'm using ie7 and the button doesn't work.

But on this qutoe. that is castlevania too. i'm always fascinated on the world and npc that tell you how the world works. I love symphony of the night and going through that castle and trying to figure out how the castle functions. And other castlevaina have that too. It's like they have a symbiotic relationship with the castle.
