The Republicans certainly have a case that decades of victim rhetoric and lazy cronyism by Democrats, especially in poorer cities, has done nothing to help black people. I don't see that helping them get many more votes, since black people vote as a racial block in every national election regardless of how shitty the candidates are.

The African American vote for Hillary was already down five percent from the support they gave Obama. Now black unemployment is down and more importantly workforce participation rate is up. Times are changing. A few percentage points can make a big difference.

But I do not think that will happen. Not to any significant degree. Not while Trump continually offends and marginalises black people on a visceral level, regardless of perceived economic improvements

But again why are we politicizing the unemployment rate so much
