I skipped all the stuff the movies had covered. The U6 arc was alright; reasonably entertaining and the Hit fight was a big step up in quality... but holy hell, just finished the Future Trunks arc and it was actually really, really good! I couldn't stop watching to see what would happen next, and everything from the start of the final showdown was one hell of a ride.

Guess I'm about to go into the (apparently very lengthy) current arc... does it hold up or even get better from here? I've heard folks saying the animation at least takes a big step up, so that'll be nice to see.

The animation has been consistent since the middle of the U6 arc, and in that time there have been some amazing looking episodes. As for if it holds up. If you don't care about power levels remotely making sense you'll probably love it. If you power scale... well, don't say I didn't warn you.

Huh honestly I never saw someone that wasn't disappointed in the F. Trunks arc, it got into a pretty boring plot loop towards the end. The beginning was cool tho

I guess it helps when it's you're not going into it knowing it as the first "serious" arc of the series

anyhow, new arc begun (ep 77) with a change in in art style / post-process filtering that's a significant step up from the earlier Super eps by default

I feel like if I was watching it weekly, the multiple retreats to the past would have bugged the crap out of me. But I was binging it so it didn't matter too much, lol. Each trip back gave Trunks a little more character building, too, and the big payoff of the arc was all his, so I'm fine with it.

I wish it was longer and had more different events happening in it, like it still didn't feel like a big complete arc it was hyped up to be like say the Namek saga.

Zamasu and Goku Black tho do make up for it a bit by being real cool characters. They really carry the arc for me tbqh.

The next arc kinda goes in the opposite direction and it feels like they're spending too much time on it with not much thought of what to fill it with or what to do with any of the characters (beyond Goku and 2 characters from U6)

100% agreed on this. Zamasu especially was hugely entertaining for me, and the sense of mystery surrounding him and Black for a stretch was really cool and unique. Easily the best part of the arc outside of the roller coaster of a final stretch was seeing his motivations develop in the present while everyone else was trying to work out how things got the way they were in the future.

Literally all of this happening because Goku's a moron and can't resist sparring with strong people is kind of incredible and I actually wish they explored that a bit more.

To be fair, if Zamasu were a normal Kai there'd be no reason it couldn't be a friendly spar, I didn't see that as moronic by Goku. He had no way of knowing Zamasu would spiral out of control like that. Also it actually proved instrumental in confirming beerus's and whis's suspicions about him, since if Zamasu wasn't fighting they wouldn't have been able to feel his ki be similar to Goku Black's.

I just watched the first ep of the dub. I was surprised at how little progress it made into the movie (great movie btw). Beerus was introduced and that's about it. I'll keep watching, but I'll be taking it slow.

Trying to fight the urge to go back and watch the Trunks arc, because I was originally only going to watch the dub of Super. Then I saw Goku doing something insanely awesome in this current arc and it hooked me in, so I'm caught up with the new stuff

I'm extremely easy to please when it comes to DB since it's all nostalgia for me, I'm a kid again when I watch Super now so whatever problems people have with the show are lost on me

So if you're at all similar to me you'll love the new arc

I'm easy to please but I admit I always had a problem with power scaling. Like the filler with Yamcha, Tien, Chao Tzu fighting the Ginyu Force on King Kai's planet. Those guys were just giving Vegeta, Krillan, and Gohan hell, but they get jobbed by some scrubs.

I'll have to try to get over that as I watch Super. I was already confused by Roshi being able to keep up in Resurrection F.

It's fine if you accept "I've been training" or "They've been training" with no details whatsoever. The alternative is watching them grunt for six episodes in the time chamber? I'm fine with it.

I'm gonna think of it like an RPG party. As long as one character does the leg work, the others can leach off of the EXP and level up easily.

Pikkon is non-canon

I don't know about Cell coming back since his perfect form was only possible with android 17 and 18, who are both alive now. So that would be kind of a mess.
