still enjoying it, at about the start of Chapter 5

decided to grind for Core Crystals at Mor Ardain because I really want Boreas and Perceval and I did that for the last three hours

45 hours, Chapter 6, got Boreas with my first Core Crystal of the day, but on Morag, also got Ursula on her, they work though for now

did the quest "Tranquility" and what the actual fuck with that ending

I stopped around 36 hours. I'll have to jump back on. I really like the game but I don't like the core crystal mechanics all too much tbh.

I'm not a fan of gacha shit but as long as it isn't paid or has waitwalls and I can reliably obtain the tokens used in the process I can put up with it

but the Blade system has extra bullshit behind it like locked to characters and the item used for reassigning is limited in number

It's a fake gacha system. You don't actually spend real money. It's just a way of randomly allocating rare blades.

Trust us, a lot of us hate the system and hope it gets patched in some way so it's less egregious. You can open 100s of crystals and not get the rare blade you want, and each rare blade has a significant sidequest related to them along with a good chunk of other content. It's shit but I really enjoy the game regardless.

Most non-story "Blades", which give you your weapons and some skills, come from a gacha system, a few are quest rewards or drop from bosses. Core Crystal items drop from chests or enemies fairly often and are used up to roll the gacha for a new Blade. There are no microtransactions, TTL, or "you've rolled too much today, try tomorrow" shit, as some games like Yo-kai Watch have. About 40 "rare" Blades have unique designs from a bunch of guest artists and some unique skills, rest are generics. You will mostly get generics even with better Core Crystals.

I can put up with it, and it'd be alright as an extra way of getting Blades like the Chip Trader in Mega Man Battle Network, but there really should be other ways to get Blades.
