An entire family gets murdered? But they have pets that are still around?

What happens to those pets? Do they get put in adoption agencies? And do those places get told oh hey, this dog was around for this bloody triple murder.

Like... is that a thing? Can those adoption agencies use that as a way to get people to adopt those animals? I imagine some people will pity adopt those pets. Or people who are super into horrible murders. Like theyd get a piece of the crime when they adopt the dog that saw its owner get skewered in two while his wife got her head on a stake. And theyre be SUPER into it.

Just a thought.

Animals end up at shelters due to owners dying, so yeah, they might end up in one. That is not the kind of thing that would be advertised. It would be disclosed privately to potential adopters. Animal adoption seeks the best homes possible, not people looking for living mementos of murder.

I've seen animal shelters saying a previous owner died before for a pet. Obviously never mentioning murder or anything like that.

Yes, but murder or crime would not be disclosed. In many cases owner death is also not advertised. Like, say, a dog being trapped in a house with no food and only its dead owner for a week. Because some stories are too fucked up to try to make into lovely adoption stories. If people knew half of the sad stuff that goes on... They get upset at the very least.
