I'd never make someone's death about me, but since this is mostly anonymous I need to get this off my chest.

I work in a pretty small area and a good chunk of our customers know us. I've only been there for 10 months and I know a lot of them. My coworker suddenly died this morning due to a stroke he had on Monday night. He's worked here (on and off) for 20 years. He knows these peoples' families. He calls them on their birthdays.

On Monday I told maybe six or seven of them he was in the hospital and it wasn't looking good. Today I told a good dozen (not counting the ones I saw Monday) of them he died and the fucking funeral is next week. A few of them started crying before I even finished talking.

I know I can't even imagine what they're or his family are going through but I am emotionally exhausted and I don't know if I can go to the funeral.

I have each of their faces embedded in my head and I have a feeling they will be there for awhile.
