Go to a wiki to look up how to handle that and the later quests in that line. It's REALLY easy to miss.

the reason is because bitterblack isle is endgame stuff

It's more like "don't touch until you're on your second NG+ or you're going to put your controller through the wall due to spongy regular enemies and the literal grim reaper."

It's more "Don't touch until Lv40", you can do it a decent chunk into the game and it becomes a lot easier once you grab a good weapon from the dungeon. After beating Daimon for the first time though, whew.

I hated the obligatory shoehorned in love sequence. That said, going through the Duke's Manse towards the end of the game was one of my favourite sections of the game. The game is great, and I really wish Capcom would do something more with Dragon's Dogma. They have the framework for an excellent action RPG, and they've just done nothing with it since the PS3.

Tried that game, got to the part where you have to climb the tower to kill the dragon, stopped playing it. Don't know why :\ it's just so empty. I love the aesthetic, it feels like a classic PS/PS2 game but there's just nothing in it.

The more I play, the more it's strengths and weaknesses become apparent. Anything involvong combat is a joy, everything else is a chore.

At this point I give the game an 8/10, just because it's combat is so, so good.

I'm only level 30 though. Oh and dragon's maw is fucking amazing.

I do wish there were more large enemies to fight. The trailer made it seem like it was a big focus but most enemies are just small fry.

This quickly became one of the bigger turn-offs towards the end for me. Constantly fighting bandits and wolves, goblins, harpies etc... gets real boring once you're used to cutting down Cyclops', Chimaeras, Gryphons and the like.

It does not help that all the spawns are static, so you're not only fighting the same enemies but they're all in the same places. Makes the lengthy on-foot traveling even more tedious.

Great game overall though and a well-handled sequel could easily perfect it.

Agreed. Doesn't help that like 90% of the big enemies are cyclops. There's not much variety.

The static spawns do suck.

My big regret in that game is I put it down a little after messing with my main Pawn's class and whatnot, and I haven't touched it in years.

People rent my mage girl regularly. For lower levels she's a beast. Good gear, good inclinations, good buffs and skills, plus Heals.

The static spawns do suck.

The enemy spawns are changed for the last act of the game, with upgraded versions of small creatures coming in and dragons getting fixed spawn points all over the map. You'll also see enemies like gorechimeras and cockatrices, as well as gaining access to a special dungeon that is full of interesting fights.

And to be honest, after a certain point in the game I wouldn't bother fighting small mobs as you can run past them far more easily and the XP gain is minimal. The only exception I usually make are harpies as they tend to spawn around cliffs and having them carry someone off is really quite dangerous!

A tip for anyone starting out: Buy as many bottles as you can carry, go to a healing spring, and bottle the water, give your Pawn as many bottles as it can carry, store the rest for when you run low again.

As an aside, Dragon's Dogma is absolutely amazing for only being 60% complete.

To be fair, the game throws healing items at you with such abundance you may as well have God Mode on. And the ones in the shop are super cheap.

I remember getting Dark Arisen back on the 360, but the only thing I remember doing in it was spending nearly an hour fighting a giant Beholder.

I need to get round to playing the PS4 version. I kinda miss playing as a Magic Archer.

I resumed Bitterblack Isle. Ended up in a 40 minute long fight with a dragon because @MacadamianNut3 's pawn ended up on a ledge and stopped fighting about 5 minutes in >:(

Decided to load the game to check who my pawn was (Selvaria, a 134 ranger) and holy shit went to the inn and she came back with around 700k RC lmao

I should get back to the game and finish farming stuff of BBI, but apparently the game updated or something, and it returned to the english voices, time to find the japanese VA pack again :/

Now you want broken? you can finish the game as a sorceror with just your staff and the magic enchant on your weapon... that thing is busted, it can even fuck up the online boss easy lol

So far my fighter is borderline indestructible. And with all my aoe abilities and weapon enchants from my mage pawn, I'm a walking beast.

I a made a level 28 fighter twink pawn that can help you through the entire game and do some of BBI if anyone wants to use her. I got lazy and didn't fully finish gold forging all her gear, so she's not as optimal as she could be, but she's still pretty good. Better then some high level pawns who aren't optimized I'd wager.

I haven't been on there in awhile, she probably gets rented a lot at level 28 though which is why I decided to make her in the first place. I've got a 200 fighter as well who's better obviously, but I like the 28 better since it was more work I feel like.

If you need any help the community is generally pretty good. Go to the DD board here and you can find people that will let you friend request them so you can rent their 200 pawns for free. Some will even give you lots of free ****.

IMO, and this is entirely opinionated, but don't get pawns with healing spells, 99% of the time they use it, will be out of combat...

I haven't had a single pawn use their healing spells properly during fights, and this was with me taking into account what their predisposition was by checking their status screen too...
