People who change when drunk are showing what they would really want to be like when sober.
Maybe you already do whatever the hell you want when sober.

Define "really drunk" because I have a hard time believing you. Even alcoholics lose control after a certain point.

I don't get wasted, but yeah, I don't lose my mental faculties like others seem to.

Yes. Pretty much. I've been at points where I was consuming a whole dorm rooms worth of liquor every weekend. Not even regular shit, straight up 190 proof stuff. I never got to that level I see others at. I just get a little giddy.

Guess this is what a functional drunk is. It's one of the reasons I cut 98% of it out of my life. My tolerance had reached insane levels and I was wasting a lot of money.

I can maintain control of myself while drunk, too. I just feel awful because I probably don't metabolize alcohol correctly or something.

Well yeah I might have trouble walking straight and things like that but I'm saying because I went to a party saturday night and this guy just went off trying to kiss every girl there. He ended up getting punched by some dude and the cops got involved. It was crazy.

See this is literally me

I still behave the same, say the same things, maybe laugh a little more, and stumble around a bit once I've had one too many.

I can relate to TC's question. I was just out in Vegas drunk for three nights and I didn't change. I don't dance more, I don't say dumb shit... I dunno. I don't get it either. We were at a nightclub and they were telling me to drink more so I would be encouraged to dance more, but alcohol doesn't make me dance. It just doesn't. But I couldn't explain that to them because it's a nightclub and if you don't get tinnitus then it's not loud enough.

I've blacked out too but again, no stories of me doing anything crazy. I even have enough self-awareness to get to the bathroom to vomit.

It lowers your inhibitions making you more inclined to say whatever comes to mind and explicitly express your feelings.

Edited to add "to mind".

I just simply don't believe that you have gotten that drunk if your demeanor hasn't changed

alternatively, you are overestimating your poise and your friends are drunk enough that they also do

While there is some truth to the drunk words = sober thoughts thing, I think that's vastly oversimplifying the situation. For one, some people get nicer when they get drunk and that has less to do with their sober self being more friendly than they let on, and more to do with someone who gets happier when they get drunk being really friendly.

In addition, the idea that who someone is doesn't include their inhibitions and what they choose to show the world is sort of silly.
