Pretty sure it's the other way around, they're finally trying to make it possible to play the game as it was originally intended, a WORLD of warcraft. Instead of what it currently is, which is RAIDS of Warcraft. People used to joke that the game didn't start till level 60. Lately the game hasn't started until 110, for real though.

This is a step in the right direction, but they still need to make the enemies more easily able to kill you if you pull a few, now it's still pretty easy to aoe them down.

But yes, the paid level up thing is stupid as fuck, but it was also stupid to make leveling so easy.

If anything, it's still too fast. 1-60 used to be roughly 350-400 hours, post-nerf it still takes a tenth of that time to get to 110.

When you've leveled 10+ characters to max, leveling is fucking terrible and boring. So yes, I think it was a good thing before.

They just didn't want people using RAF to level 3x as fast as everyone else after the changes. And let's be honest, hardly anyone uses RAF to recruit a friend. They use it to get the exp boost in their own alts

new players dont have access to heirlooms, so yes, nerfing heirloom+RAF stacking is extremely stupid/shady to push boosts

It's not that bad. I'm still having fun. but I like questing and leveling. never even been on a raid before. I think it's mostly the raid fans who are complaining. the people who like to rush to max level as fast as possible and don't read quest text

When you're high enough to do LFD, is it still the same dungeons by level, or can you now group with people who are 80, 98, 110 in a random dungeon?

dungeons scale by expansion (pre-legion) i think?

so vanilla dungeons can be 15-60, bc and wrath scale 60-80, and cata+mop scale 80-90

might be wrong, not sure how it works

regardless, even when RAF was 300% outdoors questing was faster in 7.3.5 than doing dungeons

now dungeons are 100000% pointless for leveling unless you just really want to do them

How do you practice healing and getting the hang of it?

leveling dungeons really dont prep you for endgame healing at all

theres practically no mechanics in vanilla dungeons, not to mention you dont have access to your full kit

What really bugs me is that they just straight-up nerfed RaF. They should have rebalanced it. They didn't buff a different part of it. Like lowering the CD on the summon, and raising the level 90 restrictions to level 100.

As for the leveling, the best of both worlds is something I feel like MMOs should do in general. If you already have a max level character, you should get increased exp.

Then again, wasn't that what they had been doing with heirlooms before they apparently nerfed those too? (I'm super new so I don't actually own any)

Wow that sucked. My husband did use RAF with me when I first started playing WoW. I thought it was great. Oh well, at least I got to create a whole alt army while I could.

Seeing the buttrage over the leveling speed now is fucking hilarious.

That was more poor level design. The zone scaling would have fixed that. But after 14 years or however long it's been and numerous max level alts... I don't want to do that shit again, it's a boring slog.*

*I just recently unsubbed again, so I'm basing this purely off of what others have said. I have not experienced the.... lack of experience.

Don't care. I only had like 3 or 4 characters at max level at a given time. Over the years I tried to make alts and level new characters but leveling in the game is just SO DAMN BORING after you've been playing it on and off for over a decade. Hopefully this will give new players that same amazing experience I remember having when I first played.

I miss the times where there was actual server notoriety. We all knew who the best tank for ubrs was. Ninjas got blacklisted and it took an hour to find a healer. Same six guys outside dueling anyone who walked out and stood still for thirty seconds. A lot more work and waiting but so much more personal.

It wasn't intended to be used the way it has been, so they're fixing it.
