Yeah I am gonna be making a lot of smartphone topics.

Anyways do you buy whatever the newest premium phone is regardless of Maker?
Do you upgrade yearly say from IPhone 6 to 7 and so on?
Or perhaps even more than once a year and go from 6 to 6plus to 7?

Or do you wait longer and skip the plus and similar such stopgaps or even skip a numbered mainline phone or two?

Or do you go to the maximum extreme and wait your phone dies or is clearly on the brink of death/no longer receives any updates ?

As for me no idea yet but I will probably wait for the S10/S11 to upgrade. S12 even if the updates are still coming before that and it still runs well.

At least 2 years. I get either the most recent Galaxy or the one before it generally. My current phone is close to 3 years I think.

I'm 34 and have had 4 phones since I was 17. and the most recent is my first actual smartphone, and is only 18 months mine at this point. but it sucks, so there's no way i'm going to get the same 5 years out of it.

Well its gonna die at some point.

Smartphones arent gonna last multiple decades. No way it wont simply die of old age, get offed by a major virus, be physical destroyed or stolen at some point or simply get so slow/out of date that it simply just doesnt accommodate your needs.

If its a premium model from a good Maker I could see it hitting five years maaaaybe even reaching ten based on my admittedly somewhat limited knowledge.

When my old one stops working, or is obviously deteriorating in performance. I'm now on my 4th phone in the last 7 or so years, I think. I do a little research to find the "best" "budget" phone. Never spent more than $200 on a phone, probably never will.

TC, you just got an S8 right? I highly recommend the native Samsung browser versus Chrome.

Just made the switch today on my S8+. It's faster, more efficient, has a night mode, and you can sign into webpages (like GameFAQs) with biometric authentication via Samsung Pass.

Dunno what the hell took me so long.

The battery is replaceable and I have no need for extra computing power as long as Clover and GameRaven are still supported. Hardware failure will occur someday but that's in the far future
