Why so much hate for Superman saying Martha? Of all the shitty things to hate in the movie, why that? The whole time, bats thinks of him as merely an alien, but finding out supes basically was nearly human like him kept him from killing him. Why is that a terrible plot point?

Cause Batman Already knew that he had a mom, and knew he was raised on Earth. I don't think it's as bad as everyone says, but it was a bit cheesy.

The Intent was to convey Batman realising that he was about to cause the death of an innocent person, and actively changing who he was, in to someone better.

The Execution being, our mother's have the same name, lets be friends!

This. Who the hell would say their mother's first name like that in that situation? I guess you could argue that he wasn't gonna reveal that was his mother, but then why specify her name at all?

He was trying to say Martha Kent, makes sense as he would need to know the full name of a person that's been kidnapped. You hear the k sound right before Batman puts his foot on his throat.

People either didn't understand it or just wanted to bandwagon with the hate.

I thought the scene worked. It was only after Lois intervened and told Batman that Martha was Supes' mom, which snapped him out of his bloodlust for a guy he thought was some monster this whole time.

The odd thing I never paid enough attention to ever notice that Batman and Superman mom's had the same first name.

I think Batman finding out that Superman is a human who loves other people is a fine enough concept. But I think the entire thing should have went down differently. Maybe through Clark Kent or Superman's optimism.

Batman wanting to murder a defenseless Superman and changing his mind in the last possible moment because they have their Mothers have the same name is just...eeehhhhhhh.

It's something comic geeks have long since been aware of and it's a stupid coincidence which actually brought down what should be a strong emotional scene.
But I knew what I was in for as soon as I saw kid Bruce levitate by bat-whirlwind. Fucking Hack Snyder.

I didn't think it was that bad. The way they incorporated the events of MoS to the beginning of BvS was pretty cool.

The BvS fight was somehow made a little bit credible too.

Or have superman handle Batman without effort and when Batman asks why he's holding back you could have supes start to address that he isn't a thoughtless murderer.

Then give bats the upper hand and you could bring up the mother deal.

It at least sets up to Bruce that superman is just as human as he is, with both good and bad qualities.

Tbf that and the "Bruce at the end of MoS" scenes were beautifully shot and the best the movie had to offer along with the warehouse scene.

Honestly, I didn't find that scene to be that bad. Maybe just because I was expecting it.

The dumbest part of the movie IMO was at the end when Batman says he needs the kryptonite spear. "Alright," I thought to myself, "he has to go get the spear. Kind of dumb that he dropped it, but I guess it's understandable." And then it turns out his plan is to lure the unstoppable rage monster across the city to get to the spear.

Also the fact that Superman decided to attack Doomsday despite Wonder Woman clearly showing that she had superpowers and obviously could have thrown the shit like a javelin.

it's better to call him a person. he is NOT a human. he never was.

The problem is bad writing. Like, literally - why did he say her name? Wouldn't we normally say something like 'he's going to kill my mom?'

I liked the movie despite it's flaws (the extended version does help), but that felt off.

I havent' seen it since it was in theaters but wasn't Supes explaining who he was trying to save or something like that? I thought Batman asked him what he was fighting for
