If you took the time to read, you would notice my very first post in this topic was saying that Christians ARE persecuted, which is really a meaningless statement because literally no group is not persecuted by somebody.

Here's the thing, when we're talking about Christians in America, the extent of the persecution against them doesn't come close to being comparable to the persecution other groups face, which is the point that many ITT are attempting to get across.

Here's the thing, when we're talking about Christians in America, the extent of the persecution against them doesn't come close to being comparable to the persecution other groups face, which is the point that many ITT are attempting to get across.

So American gay people and Christians are both hated and ridiculed. Christians and gay people are both murdered for who they are in a lot of other countries. What is your point?

They're not persecuted by anyone with the power to do something more than just shit talk, unlike blacks for much of America's history or gay people much more recently. That's what people mean when they say persecuted, as in more than just hostility by a minority of Americans. Until the day comes when Christians are treated as inferior by law (which is the latter half of never), they shouldn't claim to face persecution and be taken seriously.

That's not what persecution is though. You don't get to change the definition to fit your narrative.

Telling Christians to take off their white hoods, put down their torches, and to stop kidnapping their homosexual children isn't persecution. Usually they whine just because the groups of people they routinely harass tell them to stop and they don't want to.

This is a really stupid post.

I think there's very little actual persecution, and what little there is is often warranted, but I can see how it appears that way given how much favorable treatment is given to Islam.

Christians aren't being persecuted as such. There are people who want them to be persecuted, but it isnt' actually happening. The only thing that is happening is that less and less people are believing in their religion, and thus, there is less support for instilling Christian values on a wider scale, and more criticisim of Christianity. Criticism does not equal persecution, however.

Now, it is absolutely fair to say certain other religions are being given special treatment; but that isn't quite the same as persecuting this one.

My uncle unironically argues that Christians are the most persecuted group on the planet. Somehow, he also argues that they are the fasting growing religion on the planet. He's a straight up lunatic, though.

EDIT: Not necessarily persecution, but it's clear in some corners of even western society how some people mock Christianity. An easy example is any thread on CE that mentions religion (some that don't even mention it). You can guarantee at least a handful of ignorant people will say something dumb about religion. Yeah they're probably acting tough because they're on the internet, but there are definitely people like that irl too.
