Guy suspects his girlfriend cheating so he secretly goes through her phone. He finds out girl is in fact cheating. He confronts her on it. Girl turns it around claiming he is in the wrong for not trusting her and going through her stuff behind her back.

So who is more at fault:
Guy who loses trust with his girlfriend and goes through he stuff or girl who is in fact cheating

At fault for what?

They should probably break up anyways.

Girl who is in fact cheating

Not only is she cheating but she's also lying by not coming forward.

Guy is also wrong for going through her stuff without permission, but that transgression is nowhere near as bad as the two committed by the girl

What would you do if you were suspect your girlfriend was cheating? If you have no evidence of cheating and just ask her about it she would make you the bad guy by saying you don't trust her.

Years ago, I went to a Kalahari swim park with a girl I was dating.

We swam for a few hours, then decided to go eat lunch. After we ate, we were sitting in the parking lot, and I was pretty tired. Told her I was gonna snooze for 5-10 minutes, so she asked to play some games on my phone. Fine, no problem.

When I woke up, she was very distant and would barely talk to me. After about two hours of this, I finally confront her to see what was going on.

A couple weeks prior, an ex fling texted me trying to hook up; and I told her I couldn't, I'm seeing someone. So I didn't think I was guilty of anything, thus didn't delete the conversation.

We ended up breaking up over it. I was mad over the invasion of privacy, and she was mad over the text

Without seeing the text, you're in the right; however, depending on the wording, I can see how GF might've been offended.

You say "I couldn't [hook up], I'm seeing someone." The way you worded it makes it sound like said GF is holding you back or some shit, or like you'd totally hook up with her or something; basically GF thought the wording made it same like she was the easiest option around, as opposed to the best.

If that makes sense

If I suspected cheating, I would fucking check.

My gut told me my ex was cheating. She acted different, distant, and was doing things she wouldnt normally do.

So I said fuck it, imma check

Sure enough, I saved my ass from spending any extra time with the relationship

That makes sense. We were both still teens, and could have handled it better on both ends.

We're actually still friends 10 years later lol.

Guy is only in the right after the fact. Retroactive justification isn't the best thing.

But of the two, girl is more wrong because cheating and lying about cheating is worse than snooping through someone's phone.

I will never understand why people, if they get to the point they're willing to cheat, don't judt break up and save themselves and their current significant other a whole lot of trouble.

Guy suspects his girlfriend cheating

if girl's behaviour is enough to warrant suspicion then guy should be let off the hook for acting on(and confirming) said suspicion.

of course, he could just have talked to her about it.

incidentally my brother found out her gf of many years was cheating by rummaging through her stuff.
straight(as in sane) people don't just go through private stuff without some justification.
