Example:
Someone onboard is having a medical emergency and the flight is diverted to the nearest airport. This surely costs a lot of money, from the landing fees paid to the airport, to the medical staff that they need ready at the ground, not to mention the hundreds of passengers on-board that needed to get to their destinations (and potentially missed flights).

Who pays for all those delays? Would it be charged to that person experiencing the medical emergency? Or does the airline eat the cost?

what I never understood was people acting up. like I can understand if its to save a life. but it's really fucked up and not fair to the rest of the passengers to divert a flight when 1 person is drunk or something. that is very stupid and I will always oppose it.

airlines make a lot of a really stupid rules though. which is why I am glad that I barely ever have to use a plane

Honestly I've never thought about this before.
But I would imagine the airline would be on the hook for everything. Especially the other passenger's new tickets and costs incurred from losing reservations and everything else.

Some people just care that little about everyone around them. If it's not happening to them directly it's not a big deal. And when it does happen to them it's the biggest deal

if the person is acting up to the point where he needs to be removed from the flight then its for the safety of the other passengers. who knows what he could do that could put others at risk...They don't exactly have the means to restrain an individual like that and its not like they can legally just tie him up in the corner. its better to get them off ASAP just in case or it opens the door for far more problems for the airline. It could be something as "small" as him harassing another passenger on the flight and that person starting an issue with the airline, or it could escalate from there...just get them off and into custody. Don't play around.

they can in fact tie them up, and they have the means. every flight has a seat in the back with restraints on it.

and people fly for millions of reasons. someone having their flight diverted could literally ruin their life. maybe they will lose a job. or they will miss saying goodbye to a dying loved one.
