Isn't the difference between Euro Spanish and Latin Spanish much bigger than the difference between American English and UK English?

Like, I know a lot of language learning programs differentiate between the two forms of Spanish. I always assumed there were significant differences, where as the difference between the two Englishes is mostly just accent and slang.

I dunno.

Probably because anime wasn't/isn't as popular in the UK to make its own dub.

Whereas it's really popular in Latin America and Spain to have its own stuff.

I'm not talking only about anime. I only posted the LWA video because it was in my Youtube history and didn't want to search for another video comparing LatSpa and SpaSpa.

Like, movies (normal movies, not only anime movies) also get both Spain dubs and Latin American dubs.

But you never see a movie dubbed in another kind of English. It's always exported with the original track using the actor's voices, and all English speaking countries have to eat it up.

I mean, I think it's more of the fact that Latin America and Spain dub stuff more frequently than America/UK. I rarely see English-dubbed foreign films, where I've seen a shit ton of Latin Spanish-dubbed foreign films, and I'd assume that they have their Castilian Spanish counterparts.

And I don't think Spaniards tend to dub Latin American films and vice versa.

They're pretty different. Spain even has a whole verb conjugation that isn't used in Latin America at all

And also, let's not forget the fact that some European Spanish people are really uppity about Castilian because it's "proper" and shit.

yes, this is actually a thing, spain's dubs being bad became a huge meme here (especially fast and furious being called "a todo gas" and what they did to dbz's theme song

my wife complains about any spain dubs being over dramatic compared to the latin american dubs
and the c/s/z is more grating she says than vosotros apparantly

but then again venezuelans are picky and think their dialect of spanish is the best, so who knows?

Quebec and France often have different French dubs too.

Same with Brazil and Portugal, I believe.

Let's not forget 'Lobezno = Wolverine' in Spain.

But it's not like latin american dubs are a holy grail or anything, like, they have Bruce Wayne being called Bruno Diaz for example.

Spaniards who consider Eurospanish "proper" are full of **** since that is a very subjective term.

Language is a communication tool first and foremost. Second, Eurospanish is a minority variety in the world stage. The US has already surpassed Spain in the number of Spanish speakers.

It's mostly a matter of preference. Native latino speakers can understand the Euro variety, it just mostly sounds like Spaniards have a lisp in their accent.

And the vosotros form is easy to pick up even if you speak Latino Spanish. You just gotta pay slightly more attention.
