Wtf comcast, when I first got it, it was $40 and it's the same damn service. What's the justification of this?

You have money, and they would like to take it from you.

Well are you paying it or did you cancel your service?

I posted this stupid topic didn't I?

I'm currently getting speeds of 25 mbps (quite doubtful tbh) I could go down to 10 for $51, but that could be risky...

Yikes. I feel bad for folks in some parts of the USA with those kind of prices.

did you reach the end of the promo period?

are you in a position where you can cancel service without a cancellation fee?

either way, call or online chat with them, threaten to leave.

worst case scenario? you leave, then immediately sign back up with another promo.

I should probably phone my ISP. I'm currently paying $100 for 100mbps. I was paying $70 for 25, and I'm not noticing significant improvements between the two. Half the time I'm only able to break 50mbps during the middle of the night. When it was 25mbps I would routinely get at least 20.

So I feel I'm paying for not much benefit.

That feels... wrong.
I'm not against cheating internet companies, but still.

That's your answer. The justification is that you're willing to pay it.

Because it is.

Almost all ISPs have a clause on those promos that indicate they are for new customers only, and they specifically define a new customer as someone who hasn't had an account in x period of time (often 6 months). So they can very easily just deny you the promo price.

That said, if you put up enough of a stink they'll usually give you the promo price even without having to go through the hassle of canceling it, as it's just easier for everyone involved.

Take 30 seconds to read up about Comcast's practices, and you'll feel better about it.

Yeah, I pay around 80 a month with Comcast too. I should really just switch to someone else, but Comcast has a building just a couple blocks from my house and I don't want to go through the hassle of changing providers.

you dont even have to go that far

find out what promos other ISPs offer in your area

call comcast and tell them if they cant at least match the deal you are going to leave

they will offer you whatever their current promo deal is

Is this going to be one of those times when you pretend not to have a plan until the last moment? And then turn out to really not have one?
