Like really. If it was a rape situation, why not just call it normal rape? Just because one of the parties was a minor? Doesn't really make sense to me.

If it was a situation where say, some person is 21 and the other 16 and they just wanted to have sex, why call it "rape"? why not another name for that kind of crime?

Idk, feel like it should be called something else

rape = sexual pentration without consent

according to statute, you cannot consent when under x years old

have sex with someone under x years old = sex without consent = rape (by statute) = statutory rape

I don't know what stuatory means as I only ever see it used for that term. but they call it rape because the law disregards what the minor has to say because under the law the minor is incapable of giving consent. so it's rape
