Look, the broken record player finally got fixed. I think he's learned some new phrases.

Another point of evidence against you is the fact that you're clearly trying to draw attention from others, with things like "look at this guy" and speaking indirectly, as opposed to simply standing your ground in your case.

I don't even feel right chalking this up as a W because 90% of what I said was literally quoted from TC himself...

New York penal law defines the gravity knife as any knife with a blade released from the handle or sheath thereof by the force of gravity or the application of centrifugal force which, when released, is locked in place by means of a button, spring, lever, or other device.

A Leatherman does not fall into the above definition.

The TC still should have just turned in his leatherman and not made a fuss, but gravity knife a leatherman is NOT.

There you go. Now refute it. Or are you going to go back into broken record mode?

If the above is true, then TC was wrong. Which I have no responsibility for. I'm only going by what TC said.

TC said it could be considered illegal. It's his piece of property, so I assume he would know its legal status.

If you had any shred of awareness and basic deduction skills you would have realized that was the cop's argument. Also LOL @ "I'm not responsible for being wrong. Someone told me that it's their fault!"

Are you a child or something?

Gravity knifes function like switch blades... They come out of the handle in less then a second with one hand. The only difference between them and switchblades is switch blades are spring loaded with a button.

1. Leatherman has to be unfolded (2-hands)
2. You have to pry the knife partway out (2-hands)
3. You have to close whatever other tools of the leatherman get unfolded as you are prying the knife out
4. You pull the knife into lock position (gravity won't work here)
5. Finally you shut the handle of the leatherman

So yeah the cops could try to call it a gravity knife, but if they actually tried to press charges they would fail.

TC was still acting like a dunce regardless of the definition of gravity knife and should have just turned the multi-tool in.

Why should I be? You want to fact check every single thing someone says here? I could tell you I'm 14 years old and you'd rag on me all day for being a kid and not demand a shred of proof, but I could also tell you I'm 34 and you'd demand proof because "someone that old has no sense to be a broken record like that" or something.

Secondly, the cop's argument is the same as bringing in food/drinks into a movie theater; it may not be illegal, but it is against the rules of the particular establishment, and therefore should not be done.

You have a dozen posters telling you it's not a gravity knife and you continue to insist it is because one poster said it was. Jfc. Do you just blindly believe everything you're told? And yes, I do expect people to fact check themselves if they're going to adamantly argue something.

That poster being the TC, who went through the situation and actually has the knife in question. Everyone else is peanut gallery. I'd take the TC vs. a thousand posters if that's what it took.

In the case of the TC vs. peanut gallery, yes.

Well, no, you didn't, someone else did.

The op never said it was considered a gravity knife. He said the cop told him it could be considered one. The cop was lying and anyone with a shred of common sense would piece together that if the knife was illegal the cops wouldn't let him keep it.

Not to mention the above statement was in parenthesis, implying that it was added on by TC, as opposed to the cops

I made many attempts to let you know the intent of the parenthetical statement was one made by the police officer, which you kept on ignoring.

I love how you wait for other people to respond so you can piggyback with an unnecessary follow-up and pretend you're on the correct side

The officer claimed it is a gravity knife, which is indeed illegal in NYC.

However, the multitool knife is not a gravity knife.

Pretty sad how they're using a 9/11 memorial as a means to disarm law abiding citizens. They're giving the terrorists exactly what they wanted.

Fair. It's not preposterous to side with TC on the fact that he knows more about his knife than a police officer does. However, that doesn't make him any less moronic for not checking it in and then getting it back on the way out because "muh rights."

A follow-up then; what are the rules for the memorial? Does it say no sharp objects/weapons in any way shape or form? If so, then TC is still in the wrong, regardless of the knife's legal status.
