It is winter.
It is -13C outside.
Im looking at a car that has been standing still for 3 days, nobody have started the engine and no heater is on.
The snow on it is melting.
Sure, it is standing in the sun, but is still winter and -13C, this is not how things works!

Daytime sunlight heats the inside of the car.

That's why water and then frost can appear on the glass overnight when the temps drop.

On cloudy days the temp inside of a car stays balanced and you'll less likely to have frost on the glass after a freezing night.

If it was fully coated in snow, the insulating "igloo" effect would make the inside warmer than the air outside.

All the roofs around here are mad of metal and they are all in the sun much longer than the car, why is it still snow on all the roofs?

There's more insulation on the roofs keeping the inside heat away from the exterior.

And the uninsulated garage roof?
