Look up reviews and call to ask them their procedures for a move

The more professional they sound the better usually

the companies in this area all have pretty good reviews with just a few saying something was damaged. then there's a follow up to those reviews stating the companies gave them partial refunds for the damages.

we could do this tbh but i don't really want to move again so i want other people to do it for me. last time we moved we just had 2 pick up trucks and my boyfriend asked a bunch of friends to help us move. they did like 6 trips and it only took a couple hours. we packed while we moved too lol

I've done temp jobs with a couple of different moving companies in my area over 10 years ago. They all smoked dope in the truck on the way to the job. One time the driver kept running back to the cab every half an hour to do coke.

Whatever you do, just make sure you hire one. Moving yourself is an absolute BITCH.

We were lucky on my end because my sister dates a guy who owns his own truck, but it still sucked doing everything ourselves.

that was a pretty easy move though. it was just loading up shit, driving it a mile, and dumping it into the house. we didn't ask them to put stuff into separate rooms or anything we just did all that ourselves in the following weeks.

There used to be a moving company in my family. They closed down in like 2005 or so as no one wanted to run it anymore.

My racist-ass father said he wouldn't put black people/employees in their ads because it would turn off potential customers. -_-

I hired a couple of dudes for my last move and it was awesome. I just moved my own expensive things and left them for all the bullshit stuff.

Never hired a mover in my life, and it honestly wasn't that bad. I moved into my first apartment with just the help of my parents and my brother. Loaded up 3 cars with all my stuffand picked up a few boxes on subsequent weekends back at my parents place.

When I was moving back, I borrowed a box truck from where I worked at the time. It was basically the size of a U-Haul. Fit all of my stuff in there in 1 trip. Had 3 friends help, but I honestly did 90% of the heavy lifting and it didn't take long because I packed everything in advance.

When I moved to a different country, I just packed everything I could fit into my SUV and left the rest at my parents place. IDK why people find moving so hard, especially if they only have an apartment. I guess I could see it if you're moving into a building that is cramped and doesn't have an elevator and you need to take furniture and things up several flights of stairs.

We used to move a lot when I was a kid, but I don't think we ever hired any movers. We just used our own cars, our relative's, or rented a Uhaul if necessary.

If I were just moving within the city, I would see about renting a u-haul truck. You don't need a big one, and it'll have more room than a pickup truck. I've heard a lot about moving companies ripping people off, enough that I wouldn't bother unless I had no other options.

You don't have to let the movers move everything... Put the gaming stuff and collectible in a separate box and transport it yourself. Leave the heavy lifting like couches, tables, bedroom furniture, etc. to the movers.

I'll let you in on a secret. Literally everyone hates helping people move. Moving sucks. We do it because they're our friends, and you want to help out your friends... but moving sucks.

Also, getting friends to help comes with multiple costs as well. The accepted payment of "pizza and beer" isn't free. Can easily drop 100 bucks on that depending on how many people you have helping you. Plus the cost of a Uhaul truck if you don't have a suitable vehicle for moving. These costs all add up, and a lot of times for short distance moves - assuming you pack up all your own stuff... getting a moving company isn't actually all that more expensive.

That, and moving companies have insurance. If you have your friends help you, and they accidentally bump a wall and scratch the fuck out of the drywall, who is responsible for it? Well. You are. It'd be an awful dick move to charge your friend to repair it when they were helping you out of the kindness of their heart. If the moving company does that, you can demand they fix it.
