Most of the staffers were working on BotW during the dev cycle, apparently. Pretty incredible accomplishment. It's kinda mystifying how Assassin's Creed games need 700 people working on them to put one out in three years and still feel so empty.

Is it really? When your company pushes out games that force "diversity" and other political trash on people, it's pretty obvious that:
1. A large part of the funding is already covered by those who "ordered" this kind of game, so not much risk for you.
2. You'll burn a bunch of that risk-free money on "diversity" hires (and the like) who are there to fill a quota, and bring little of actual value.
3. Being effective will be your last concern.
4. The game will be trash.

Of course, that business model will only work as long as you have "benefactors."

Whereas the Japanese work with their own money, so they hire the best people to do the most effective work.

Do you think so? Nothing about the game really seemed rush to me. Losing the 3 UI programmers is the biggest one from the article that explains some of the game's issues.

Didn't really like Ni No Kuni 1 or the Octopath demo. I'm extremely picky with JRPGs. I DID like the bit I played of Cold Steel, just have to bite the bullet to tolerate some of the stuttering I get with PlayStation Now.

Ni no Kuni 2 doesn't have the whole monster collecting/raising/battling stuff like the first one, so if that was part of your problem with the first, 2 may still be worth checking out.
