Manga mostly only have 1 writer through out the whole series and has the majority say of what happens in the series whether it becomes an anime or has OVA or has non-canon movies. American comics have different writers all the fucking time writing in new canon shit for different characters in the same universe while trying to connect everything to everyone making it a huge clusterfuck, they have to use multiverse angles to differentiate why things don't connect and then it still gets so fucking messy that they have to shithole in a plot to reset the universe.

It's two very different animals.

The flexibility of American super heroes is what makes some of its most famous stories possible.

Bill Finger and Bob Kane would have likely never made Nightfall or Under the Red Hood. Superman wouldnt have "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow". Wonder Woman wouldn't have the George Perez run.

Deadpool wouldn't be nearly as famous as he is now if he was forever Rob Liefeld's. Heck, most of the modern X-men characters would not exist in their current, most popular forms.

Meanwhile, manga's unilateral control under a single writer and artist allows great overaching continuity and artistic integrity, these stories are generally made under intense deadlines and directions can change on the whim of the author, the editor, or the audience week by week.

Fairy Tail never kills anyone important because the author was afraid of alienating readers. Dragon Ball Z is constantly making stuff up on the fly.

In some cases, these wild divergences work. Other times they dont.

In summation, both models have advantages and disadvantages. You should care more about the story being told than the medium telling it.

I always wonder if American comics only have one women body figure that's shared upon all women casts.
